I took my husbands name because I like the tradition. Additionally, we adopted so it feels nice for the 3 of us to have the same name.

Hmm.. I don’t know.  Maybe?  It really depends and if my future husband or I want that.  Still single though so untile the time comes we’ll just have to wait and see.

Yes I would in a heartbeat! I hate my last name with a passion. I have a very Latino/Hispanic last name Her....z but if/when I married my partner I will be taking his last name Rod...z which is a lot better then mine! l

I already did, 3 years ago when I got married.
I wanted to have two part surname, keep mine + add my husbands surname, but it would be too long and it would be a pain in the *** to write it

I am a gay woman and when me and my wife got married she took my last name. So when we got our two children we all have the same family name. It is so nice and it makes it easier as a family. Very romantic to. We live in Stockholm Sweden so it is usual and is most of the time accepted. We also named our children with a different gender middle name that has now become legal in Sweden. So our daughter has a male middle name from grandpa and our son is named Madonna as a middle name. Sorry for not naming him Britney but if we get a third child it is a given. I like when love have the same name!

Yes, just because my surname is so hard for English speaking, I'm tired of people trying to pronounce it or constantly had to spell it out. (It is 13 letters long)

Nope, I find the tradition completely unnecessary, I do get it if someone finds it romantic and wants to do it though. To each their own

I like the idea of one of us taking each other’s last name. It feels romantic and part of becoming “one” as you do in marriage. But the first names of me and my boyfriend don’t really go well with the other’s last name.

Also, I think I’d rather take his name, but I don’t like the idea of “losing my identity” somewhat. I’d be happy if he took my name, but it kinda feels weird because I’m not close with my family anyways, so why would I want him to take on my family name?

I would not, where i am from it is not tradition to do that. Everybody gets 2 surnames anyway. I could not renounce to my parents surnames.

Or what about doing what Neil Patrick Harris and his husband did? They hyphenated both of their last names to Burtka-Harris. I feel like that’s a good middle ground and could also be a good idea for any future kids. Both my partner and I are very fond of our surname so it’ll be a tough call when the time comes about what name the kids will take

I don't think so. Its a little outdated, at least where i live. Plus, that would be an extra criterion to marry someone and I'm already very picky.
