Britney Spears Is Planning to Go to Court in the New Year to Fight for Her Kids

A mother’s love. Britney Spears is planning to go to court next year to fight for more time with her sons following drama over her conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears, and an altered custody agreement with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The “…Baby One More Time” singer is hoping to get to spend a more equal amount of time with her kids, Preston, 14, and Jayden, 13, who she shares with the DJ, 41, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively.

“Britney’s goal in the new year is to go to family court and petition the judge for increased custody time with the boys,” the insider tells Us. “She will have the boys on Christmas Eve, and they will go to their dad’s at some point on Christmas Day.”

 

In September, a judge ruled that Spears would get the kids 30 percent of the time — she and Federline previously had a 50-50 split after their 2007 divorce.

A source told Us earlier this month that Britney and her ex do “not have much of a relationship” apart from “everyday coparenting stuff. They’re cordial but don’t do very much as a family.”

The change to her custody agreement came amid controversy with her father, Jamie, who allegedly got into a physical altercation with Preston in August. Federline went to court to seek an emergency restraining order against Jamie at the time but police subsequently stated that no child abuse charges would be filed against Britney’s dad.

“The relationship between Jamie and Britney has completely fallen apart,” the source tells Us. “Britney remains very angry at Jamie because his actions with her kids resulted in losing custody time with the kids.”

There is also a status hearing set for January 22 to deal with the singer’s conservator status, where “findings of the probate investigator report will be discussed,” the source adds.

In May, Spears was ordered to undergo an independent expert evaluation as a source told Us that she was “exploring formally petitioning the court to end the conservatorship.”

Jamie, who has been Britney’s conservator since 2008, filed papers after the incident with Preston to temporarily relinquish the role. Britney’s current care manager, Jodi Montgomery, has taken over as conservator until the January hearing.

After spending time in treatment for her mental health in April, Britney has been focusing on herself and embracing a “positive headspace,” a source told Us earlier this month.

“She has spent the last year prioritizing herself and her well-being, something she did not have a chance to do as much during her Las Vegas residency,” the source continued. “She has had less time with her sons but got really close with her mom, Lynne, and sister, Jamie Lynn, again recently.”

The insider added: “Britney spends most of her time at home with her boyfriend, Sam [Asghari], or alone. Her relationship with Sam is rock-solid. He brings her so much joy and is a source of stability in her often chaotic life.”

She on crack or smthn ?

I think it's obvious that Britney and JL feel very different about Lou Taylor, since we've been criticizing Lou like maniacs (as we should be) and Britney never ever even began to defend her. But yet JL seems so freaking passionate about praising her. But why ??? I mean if your sister feels a very strong way about this woman, then why go out of your way to defend her yourself ?

B: JL is plain dumb and selfish and is thinking of her own needs rather than Britney's. let's face it I wouldn't be surprised giving the history of this family using Britney

I really think it's Lou Taylor running JL's accounts. I use to have a JL twitter page (tragic, I know) and she replied a few times on Twitter DMs and it just didn't seem like Jamie Lynn.

I do and I don’t. I had a JL fan page too and when she actually used to reply to twitter messages she always seemed blunt. She was supposedly trying to start a music career? Yet her behaviour on Instagram replying to people these days is either super nice to celebs or incredibly rude to people who try to provoke her. No inbetweens, never fully explained her music career or disappearance from it.

I was 10 in 2007, but I feel like we're having a similar time with Britney...it's not the same obviously, but I feel like things are as messy as then... We barely get to see her in public. I have no clue if her family or friends are reliable. And I'm a bit worried when I see those bubblegum posts on Britney's ig, it feels weird and forced with the whole silence which appeared around Britney after last summer. It's just making me scared, but I'm really hoping for good news next year.

they took this Phenomenal legendary woman hope away  this era was the last time I saw her. It is believed that she was told that after this album she would be free from the conservatorship & Be able to move on, yet she didn’t. I look at this performance today & was amaze by the difference in her now from then. It wasn’t the best performance of all time but here she move her hips she stayed in character & looked like Britney Spears, even tho people forget this was actually her first performance back in U.S after the VMAs (Madonna doesn’t count) so I’m pretty sure she was nervous but I couldn’t tell. After all thar has been going on I just feel angry to know they took this woman away from us, it’s not fair at all

What makes me so mad about this is that “Britney” had so much to say in the comments like always but in the actual video she says NOTHING which relates to it. All she said was do we went to see her Christmas tree or something. Like what the actual ****. I’m pretty sure she would have said something about what she posted. Her team are so dumb and so are the people believing she’s on her social media. I don’t think she’ll ever be free from this. It seems so far off. She makes too much money for people and there are too many people involved in keeping her captive living a lie just making money for everyone

We do not know the game plan the lawyer Lynn brought in has but he's been doing good so far
