Truth. She would have been great but 2002 was a time when she was verging on overexposure, and if she got this role, I think it would have put her into 2004 territory for public opinion.. earlier? If that makes sense.

I think she would have gotten the respect as an actress that she didn't get with crossroads. Similiar to what Gaga is experimenting right now. Maybe this would have given the break she needed and wanted from music and touring.

I think she would have found the filming process really fulfilling too. I think I remember there being a clip of her on the set of Crossroads talking about how much she loves being on a film set, assuming because it's less fast-paced than a stage performance.
