Christina Aguilera performs Medley, receives the Music Icon award at the PCAs

By any means this presentation was good. I'm sorry but the fact that she has a great voice does not necessarily mean that she is capable of delivering a great performance. And last night's presentation is proof of that. After Genie in a Bottle, everything went downhill, and she only started to improve at the end with Beautiful. Besides, she always sings the same songs, three-quarters of the medley was focused on Stripped songs (an album she released almost twenty years ago!!!), sadly, if any, it seems that people only remember her for this album and that after it her career ended.

That Christina is an ICON is obvious. All the haters/envious ppl can say whatever, but will not change that.

Why her getting the first one? Well her voice is UNDENIABLE. Her advocacy for Women and LGBTQ+ community is on point.

This being said, the choice of the cheap fabric for her two yellow outfits.. wrong. Deciding just to get the high notes for most of the songs.. wrong. It adds to the argument of her singing being only that. One note only.

Last two songs were enjoyable.

This is the first time I’ve seen her perform in years and wow…that was pretty bad.. Her vocals and the screeching were unbearable. It’s really sad that this is where she is at in her career. She had so much potential and I was really hoping her management change would be a step in the right direction. It’s almost as if everyone’s afraid to tell her the truth.

literally nothing has changed

lmao Britney was not in mind for Beautiful? Where did you hear that? Linda Perry wrote Beautiful and never had Britney in mind.

Courtney Love has relayed that Britney and Christina were considered several times since the mid 2000s

My synopsis is this: P!nk  essentially used her hair stylists connections to track down Linda Perry (who really had not been working in the mainstream since 4 Non Blondes failed to garner the same success of What’s Up) prior to Mizundastood. Together P!NK and Linda co-wrote various hits like Get the Party Started, Dont Let Me Get Me, Just Like a Pill, and the title track. Christina and P!nk worked on lady marmalade together in 01 as well. At some point, Linda began writing for several other artists following the success of Mizundastood, with Christina’s Stripped being the biggest And arguably most successful Linda collaboration to date.

Similarly, Courtney Love who was fully in her addiction at the time, longed to go solo and reached out to Linda as well. Together they wrote a record called America’s Sweetheart which Courtney refers to as “le disastre”. Linda also looks down on this record, stating Courtney was just drugged out the entire time(I believe it was released in 04, but the earliest of songs were being written in 2001/02). In 2005/06, Courtney began rewriting for a record called How Dirty Girls Get Clean (during her rehab stay). Together her and Linda were the focus of a documentary detailing her solo return which eventually would just become an album under  Hole 4 years later (no original members besides Courtney were in this).

during this time she would often discuss how badly she wanted Beautiful for herself during the Americas Sweetheart recording sessions. Linda she said was debating giving this to Britney or Christina (as in P!NK was not even being considered for the track, which led her to feeling a bit betrayed by Linda). Linda told Courtney she was not going to give her Beautiful because at the time, she wasn’t ready for Top 40 radio. Instead, Linda said she had a better song which she would only give to Courtney when Courtney was ready and serious about the music. She proposed a different song to Courtney which she believed was more relevant to Courtney’s life.

The song, Letter to God, was recorded in 05 by Courtney for her intended solo follow up  (heard in a since leaked rehab demo tape).

It was re recorded by Courtney and officially released in 2010 under Hole’s Nobody’s Daughter album

and was later performed by Linda on tv

It’s not even the screaming so much for me as the mixes. Her voice always drowns out the music. They need to turn up the music it sometimes feels like she’s singing “ acapolco “

Christina was/is/forever will be The Voice of "her" generation, no doubt about it, but... Iconic...

To me, being iconic meant something different so I actually had to google the word, and it said:

"widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence."

"very famous or popularespecially being considered to represent particular opinions or a particular time"

Sure, Christina fits this description just fine but then, reading some of your comments, it hit me: People's Choice awards - The Music Icon Award.

Is Xtina really the artist that most people would choose to represent Music itself in 2021?

She's an icon, I'm sure of it, but is she people's icon?
