Nothing against Christina, but there's nothing to be salty about this 'award' when Britney received this kind of recognitions YEARS AGO. If anything Xtina is late to the party.

Does anyone else see “first ever” and just think she and her sassy gay puclicist paid the PCAs to make up this award to promote her Spanish album? 
 

idk, award shows have been on the decline for years. Do ppl really care about the peoples choice awards at this point? It’s not like the Oscar’s or Grammys, it’s not even on the level on the VMAs s really

She had a huge impact on music and culture. Christina's turn from pop star to a more "serious" artist is the highlight of her career. This era gave us Stripped which included: 

Dirrty: the female ***ual empowerment anthem which is so prevalent in todays music and really challenged the worlds perception of female ***uality

Beautiful: a powerful, poignant self empowerment anthem which is still a LGBTQ staple and just for anyone who has been put down. With a brilliant and raw video showcasing vulnerabilities and people whom the public identified as freaks or not worthy. 

Can't Hold Us Down: a ferocious statement on female empowerment challenging double standards really not seen at the time on the pop commercial scale. 

I'd also say Back to Basics was a very adventurous album. An unusual double disc and a period piece in music and probably the last time she would balance artistic statements with huge commercial success. The second disc being one of my favorites.

It's an award to celebrate artists for their success and impact in an industry that turns and eats up artists she is still going.
