Any dance Music is going to be outdated fast. It's anything that's trendy that goes out fast. Which is a lot of the Music today. 

 

Hate to say it by next year most of 2020 Music is going to be dated fast. 

 

They only make Music for streams not yo create timeless music for generations to discover. one day even positions would sound dated..

21  well not only is my taste on point but my knowledge of the art is as well  so that right there puts me in a position of knowing that in fact Gory is beneath the standards  so I guess yours aren't really high?  but don't worry it takes some of us a little longer than others

I’m personally offended by this thread. 

picking albums that aren’t even 10 years old is silly, BUT, even more offensive, taking apart Madonna’s older work… UNACCEPTABLE. 

Madonna’s discography is the Pop music Bible. Period. The albums fit the decades so well, and Madonna WAS pop music in the 80’s / 90’s.

As a 37 year old Man, Madonna first album turns 38 this June!n that's older than a majority of the users. I think most are slowly entering their 30s, the youngest will be 15. But a few of us is closer to 40, but that's not the majority..I think most of the users are born in mid 90s. 

 

People my age left due to the political beliefs and such.

Quick thought: some people are interpreting this as which albums “sound dated,” which I think is actually a different question than the “what didn’t age well.”

Almost all music is going to be sonically era-specific. For instance, Rhythm Nation is a stone cold classic, but sounds VERY 80s production-wise. Does that mean it didn’t age well? I don’t think so. It has really well-constructed pop songs (Love Will Never Do Without You being one of my favorites) and its reputation has continued to grow, especially celebrating Janet’s ability to make an excellent dance/pop album with some message songs. So even if it sounds “dated” production-wise, it’s continued to find an audience and has shaped many other artists’ work. I feel similarly about early Britney albums.

I do think that a dated sound CAN make an album age poorly if 1) the sound/production was supposed to be the whole appeal and there aren’t other redeeming aspects to the music, or 2) the artist was totally trend-hopping and used a sound or production style just because everyone else was and the execution was just not there.

Just an example: others may disagree (and that’s totally fair), but I think ARTPOP hasn’t aged well because it was the inevitable endpoint of an era where club-oriented dance pop was the norm and artists were just trying to go bigger than everyone else. So the album comes off to me as a messy and loud sensory overload with distracting and over-the-top production and most of the songs aren’t good enough to transcend that moment in time.

So I would not include albums on this list just because they have aged.

Mostly, I don’t think Baby One More Time and Oops should keep popping up, because I think they are still solid pop albums

I think it's mostly opinion..

To Me for an album to not age well, my definition is it doesn't reflect who I am as a person.
