Older Fans, what are some things that newer fans may not know about Britney back in the day?

In Mexico flipping the middle finger has been known as "la Britney señal" ever since she flipped the paparazzi back in 2002. Like for real, the term is sill used in tv shows and stuff to this day

Newer fans always tends to forget that she started her professional career when she was just 10-11. Also something that always irks me is the fact that people say she started her music career when she was 17. She signed to Jive at the age of 15 and started recording right away and the BOMT (single and video) was released when she was 16 so she was already #1 artist by the time of her 17th birthday. Legends only.

I Can't with the fact that there was huge backlash about her showing middle finger to papz. Oh wow if there's something I don't miss from past decades, it's the hypocrisy about such a small things like they would have been the most vulgar offenses person can do

Well the Mexican media treated it as if she was being racist and saying F.U. to Mexicans. It was so dumb. The saying is so true, "They build you up, to tear you down".

I remember this!!! It was a HUGE (no pun intended) deal at the time, especially since this was a prerecorded performance for the Kids Choice Awards. What's funny is that as a 10 year old Britney fan who grew up on Nickelodeon, All That, MTV, and VH1, I really didn't think anything of it until there was some story on TV or a magazine about how INAPPROPRIATE she looked by SHOWING HER STOMACH (even though her outfits in the BOMT video were way more provocative and I think she had already done the Rolling Stone cover in her underwear) and that her ***** WERE MASSIVE and OMG NIPPLES WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?! 

Meanwhile I remember jamming to the performance and thinking she looked so covered up because she wasn't showing any cleavage 

I honestly think the conservative movement is more responsible for corrupting the youth of America by pointing out things we never would have noticed otherwise

I’m a newer fan lol (been one since 2018 ) but back in her time and prime, it was very hard and out of the blue for a western artist to have over 1.5 million sales of their album in Asia but Britney managed to sell around 2.1 million copies of her ...Baby One More Time and Oops!...I Did It Again sold 2.3 million copies in Asia alone  

Also even though remix albums by artist aren’t very successful, Britney’s first remix album B In The Mix Volume I went on to become the 6th best-selling remix album of all time

Also, I will just bring up the fact of how she is the most photographed and searched female celebrity alive

That being wary of the conservatorship isn't a "new" thing or we just didn't know. Quite a number of fans were wary of it constantly throughout the years. I think the majority of the fanbase, myself included, made sense of it as a legal protection against Lutfi. Whenever it was brought up, fans were really quick to shut the conversation down as it was "none of our business".

am not an older fan myself but my english teacher told me that when he was in college (in the uk) "britney" was a nickname for beer, so the guys would be like "lets get britneys" lmao

Britney is a real badass who speaks her mind. She can be really sarcastic and even mean sometimes. But never without a reason. She has a great sense of humor and doesn't take herself so seriously. She is very strong and independent. She cares for everyone around her: give them gifts, jobs, supported them in things that are important to them, like Introducing her grandfather to Aretha Franklin and get  Kevin a record deal and appearances  in front of thousands of people
.I think she is the friend you can call at 3 am and she is just there. She is very caring and loving. She was the bridesmaid for Brett for example. She knows exactly what she wants, not just when it comes to her job, but also in her private life. She has a grip on everything. when she needs help, she takes it. Like when she needs a Psychologist during the Britney era or a babysitter when she split up with Kevin. So her baby's were always supplied. Brit is not afraid to try new things, she is very open to other people, cultures, music sounds, etc.(but not food). She is one of the bravest people I ever saw in my whole life.

Let´s never forget the "Real Britney".That is for what we´re  fighting. That she can be herself again.

She was communicating with fans through letters.. it’s a true gold.. I don’t know how to find that thread there was a lot of letters.. there was some fan site too where all her letters to the fans were collected. I think every fan should read them to understand her persona. Most of them was of 2004-2007 period if I remember correctly.. later I will try to search and post here

Chaotic was aired by MTV Latinoamerica, the last episode was aired right after de VMA's in 2005. Someday was already out by then. Every music video she would put out went straight to number 1 in the 10 most requested videos of the week. (Los 10+ pedidos) She even made a cameo for the MTV VMALA (The VMA's of Latin America). They would play Making The Video Me Against The Music and Toxic all the time and also the Out All Night Special. From 2003 - 2005 it was everything Britney on MTV, I mean EVERYTHING. They would also play Toxic after 22 because it was "too ***ual", at least this is what they said they would do but I don't really remember it that well.

ok, are you ready to go back to medieval times ? 

-the fact that I found out on a magazine, which was showing a list of all her music videos, that "From the bottom of my broken heart" had a music video ...the fact that as a European I only had 1 minute of it recorded by a friend on VHS , the fact that it took me more than a year to actually see it in full !!

-the fact that clothes changed in stores overnight because she was setting a new trend (I clearly remember her impact when "Not a girl, not yet a woman" video was released. The very low-rise faded jeans with creamy lace top, the belly piercing and the newsboy cap...every single store was selling this overnight, and everybody was wearing these clothes )

-the fact that the first website I went to, my first time on the internet, was Bitney's official website !

-the fact that we didn't have the internet at home so everyday at school when we had to go to recess, I was staying at the library to go to the computers and check Breatheheavy and Exhale back when Toxic was released..and that I was so embarassed cuz the old lady kept looking at me thinking I should go out and play 

-the fact that she was the most beautiful girl in the world but it's actually her humour, her laugh, her personality that kept people obsessed with her.

-the fact she was an athlete, a gymnast and she was known for having very physical choreographies (backflips and so on..)

-the fact she was everywhere, for years and years we had new interviews, new performances, new promos and photoshoots EVERY DAY.

-the fact she was 22, I was 16 and I thought our youth was eternal

i think this is something that new fans may not know about 07/08 and the cship. Back in 08 when she was hospitalized and the cship was put in place a lot of us agreed with it (i think the majority of us felt this way). The Blackout era wasn’t easy, we were actually scared for her life. I remember checking BH everyday with fear ngl. So when Jamie stepped up and took Britney away from Sam Lufti I was relieved. Then her team made her work again immediately for Circus and I was so happy because she seemed “healthy” and like her old self. We (at least I) didn’t know right away what this all meant and how it was going to shape the rest of her life til this day. I feel guilty and sad, but looking back it was like they were actually saving her life.
