Jamie Spears hires new litigation attorney ahead of the conservatorship termination hearing

Recommended Posts

Jamie Spears replaced his previous attorney, Vivian Thoreen, with an experienced litigation attorney named Alex Weingarten of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, according to a new court filing obtained by NBC News.

Jamie hired Weingarten to represent him at the upcoming November 12th court hearing in which Judge Brenda Penny may agree to terminate the conservatorship.

Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, reportedly plans on deposing Jamie Spears, whom he claims profited off of Britney's conservatorship. Rosengart wants to investigate alleged financial mismanagement.

Britney may want to file charges against her father for conservatorship abuse and breach of fiduciary duties, among other things. She stated in the past her father loves to control her and called the conservatorship abusive.

Rosengart also objects to accounting fees filed by Jamie and co, including $540,000 for "media matters."

This situation may be ongoing.

If Rosengart files a lawsuit against Jamie Spears for fraud as Britney's former conservator, it may result in years-long litigation, NBC reports.

Jamie says he always acted in Britney's best interests, something Britney herself denies.

A hearing to review accounting and fees has been scheduled for Dec. 8, NBC reports. It's possible the court may still handle accounting disputes even if Judge Brenda Penny ends the conservatorship on Nov. 12th.

Rosengart says he believes the conservatorship will come to an end on that date. liti.jpg.ae8643a555f4419b5c15819c129f92b1.jpg
