The director of Britney: For The Record, Phil Griffin, says Britney’s one wish for the film was to have a voice. “I still can’t believe it took this long for that voice to be fully heard.”

13 years ago today we released a film that I had the honour to direct.
Even though we had to fight for every frame, Britney For the Record would become an honest and intimate portrait of a young powerful women trapped by circumstance and a machine she had no way of fighting.
In "For the Record" Britney's one wish was to have a voice.. we tried to give her that voice.
When we first sat down Brit said to me:
"Phil theres a lot about me that people don't know...that I want them to know"
I still cannot believe it took this long for that voice to be fully heard.
My Dear @britneyspears I remain so proud of your strength. and as we often discussed back then - your courage is your true power and guess what ... now they know!!!

Or a director's cut that is his actual vision and not what Team Con allowed (as he said he practically fought for each frame)...i wonder if he has footage of Lou and he involvement, since she loves saying she had nothing to do with it or the Spears family until after a year of B in the Con.

FTR is her best doc because it's so damn authentic! I really hope he will direct the next one, if she wants to do another one off course! Plus they "know" each other, I don't know how deep is their relationship and how it could be now, after all these years but Britney seemed to really trust and like him.

Honestly this. Even as a fan I still didn't fully grasp what she was trying to tell us in FTR then... 

And it was SO obvious 

I guess then nobody knew the extent or length of time it would last... Even Britney herself. Although she did seem to allude to the fact she would be paying "for a very long time" 

How she even managed to get that on TV is actually surprising...but I guess the conservatorship was at such an early stage they didn't have much to hide at that point... 

The evil and greed grew the longer it went on... And the more paychecks her handlers got...

The problem with FTR is that it gave an impression of being a "tell-all", without actually saying anything at all. 

What did we learn? That she was sad after her divorce and paparazzi being a ******* pain in the ***. Things we all knew.

I hope she'll own her story and share (or not share) on her own terms. <3
