Because it is rather stuck up to wear expensive brands exclusively.
It alienates the rich idol from the poor fans who can't relate to having a wardrobe of only Versace, Gucci, Prada, Balmain, YSL, Moncler etc. 

Because it helps you stay humble and down to earth .

Honestly it takes time to build a wardrobe.  Plus it’s also very easy to go broke buying expensive clothes. Look up the Marchesa Casati. She was once the richest women in Italy and she died broke and homeless because she spent all of her money on clothes and parties.  But money aside, wardrobes take time.

She isn’t really materialistic if you really know her. She was never known to be very flashy and posh even during her prime. She is genuine, humble and modest.

$500 for a dress to wear at home is a lot of money. Just because she has the money to buy stuff doesn’t mean she has to throw it away on expensive clothing that are expensive only because the brand on it.
