Sometimes if I used "they" or "their" it would make it confusing as to which party I was referring to.  I really do miss "she" and "he". Obviously I was respectful to use their preferred pronouns in the post, so don't cancel me too hard.

Not going to cancel you, and I appreciate you saying you are still learning and are open to learning. You too @MikeHunt  

But I want to explain to you what this is about, because I find so many people on exhale are LGBTQ2+ but don’t understand non binary folks and gender fluidity is as a whole.
 

I’ll say it and be honest with you all, it does come off as discriminatory and ill intended when people express difficulty with being able to call people by their preferred pronouns, and essentially ignore the actual struggle of non binary people. It is 20 million times harder for non binary or two spirited people to accept who they are and live authentically in society, so the least we can do is honour and respect them. It’s NOT that hard and in English, it actually does make grammatical sense to use “they” or “their” when speaking on a singular noun. 

“They/them” doesn’t mean that you are he/him or she/her exclusively, and in fact represents a range of genders. In India for example, there is a third gender called hijras. In Indigenous cultures, there is the conception of two spirited that is honoured and part of their belief systems.  

At times non binary people may feel closer to the gender assigned at birth, or the “opposite” s** (assuming they aren’t inter*** and have both traditionally “male” and “female” body parts assigned at birth), or in some cases neither female or male. Traditional masculinity and femininity norms are rejected in place of individuality. They/them does NOT mean you can choose whether someone is he or she, even if they may feel closer to one gender over the other at times. 
 

Beyond discourse, some non binary people may want to transition later in life as transgender  but that doesn’t take away from the existing they/them pronoun and identity that goes beyond the he/she dichotomy. If Demi is saying they are they, they are not saying that you have the option of choosing which gender they are. They MEAN that they are they/them. 

And I’ll tell you now, it’s okay to have a slip up and call someone by the wrong gender if it’s a genuine mistake. You just have to then have to be open to correcting yourself.

Im also tired of ppl demonizing Demi, when they clearly have mental health issues. Are they likeable? That’s debatable but mental illness doesn’t mean you have to be likeable. It’s immature and they literally have a **** problem: and for the people saying that they should be in a conservatorship instead of Britney, you clearly have learnt nothing about the abuses of this system and are just a Britney Spears fan. Basically get the **** out of this movement if that’s all you believe in. Conservatorship abuse shouldn’t exist at all and that’s the entire point of this movement.

Demi Lovato has become one of the most pretentious, obnoxious people with a public platform. At this point I'd rather watch Marjory Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz talk than listen to Demi. At least those two get called out for being nuts. What's funny even as I write that though, I don't think Demi is nuts at all. Every single thing she does and says today, and frankly, all of her past antics, are a sad grab for attention.  At this point I'm just ..... over it.
