  4. ''When Morphe Beauty hit a rough patch early in the pandemic, as masked-up consumers turned from eyeshadow palettes to niacinamide serum, it looked to some of the culture’s biggest stars for help. YouTube sensation Emma Chamberlain signed on as creative director of Bad Habit, a skin care label that launched at the end of 2020. TikTok mega-influencer Charli D’Amelio was tapped to release a fragrance, plus a skin care line developed with the help of famed dermatologist Dendy Engelman. A Demi Lovato beauty line was put in motion. But the “silver bullet” was meant to be R.E.M. Beauty, according to several former executives. Forma Brands, the “brand incubator” formed in 2019 to manage Morphe and a growing portfolio of sister lines negotiated the license to release beauty and skin care products for the pop star Ariana Grande in early 2021, and rushed a line of space-themed makeup into production.'' Today, Forma Brands has little to show for its efforts. Chamberlain quietly left Bad Habit when her one-year contract expired; the brand reported just $3.4 million in sales last year, less than half Forma’s projections. D’Amelio released her fragrance, Born Dreamer, in June, but the skin care line has been shelved, as has Lovato’s beauty brand. R.E.M. Beauty’s release was overshadowed by other blockbuster celebrity launches, including Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty and Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Skin Care; it is seen by many inside Forma as an expensive disappointment, according to several people with knowledge on the matter. [...] R.E.M. Beauty was a last-ditch attempt to make the celebrity-centric strategy work, several former Forma executives told BoF. The company hoped Grande and R.E.M. would replicate the success of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, which kicked off the celebrity makeup craze in 2017, or Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty, which exploded onto the market in 2020, quickly becoming a top seller at Sephora. “We needed this brand to launch,” a second former Forma executive said. “The thinking was, ‘Ariana will launch and probably save the company’ because none of the brands were doing well.” Forma spent millions of dollars on R.E.M.’s marketing campaigns, according to multiple sources, including two former executives with knowledge of the matter. “We stopped spending — marketing money, people — on pretty much everyone but R.E.M. It was all on hold,” said a third former Forma Brands executive. “Investors would not approve any budgets until they saw how R.E.M. played out.” ''Forma had a megastar name in Grande, top-tier production values for its marketing and strategically timed teaser posts on the singer’s social media accounts leading up to launch. But the brand failed to articulate what made it stand out amid an increasingly crowded field of celebrity lines: Gomez has a uniquely tight bond with her fans, and the products weren’t addressing an untapped need in the market, as Fenty’s 40 shades of foundation did.'' How Morphe Bet Big on the Power of Celebrity Beauty – And Lost WWW.BUSINESSOFFASHION.COM The cosmetic brand’s parent company is facing an uncertain future after a series of troubled attempts to launch new makeup and skin care lines around influencers and pop stars.

  11. Demi Lovato Drops album track "29" which candidly speaks about her past relationship with actor Wilmer Valderamma. Demi's new album HOLY **** drops Friday. I'm so ready! Are you? "29" is an absolute bop. Honestly my personal favorite release from HOLY **** so far along with "Substance." Thoughts?
  12. Demi Lovato's new album is a hit! The 30-year-old entertainer's Holy **** was released a little more than a week ago and has topped multiple charts. Demi's eighth album debuted at No 1 on both the Top Rock and Alternative albums chart, and it became their eighth consecutive Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 chart, coming in at No 7. It also dropped in at No 4 on the Top Album Sales Chart. Additionally, Holy **** debuted overseas at No 7 on the UK album chart, marking Demi's fifth consecutive Top 10 debut in the UK. "When making HOLY ****, I wanted to explore the dichotomy between ideas and feelings we all face: good & bad, holy & evil and anger & love. The album is a deeply personal journey that begins with pain and anger and concludes with me reclaiming my power," Demi shared in a statement. "It gave me the freedom to express myself in ways I didn’t know were possible and find joy I’d been missing when making music. It’s cathartic and grounded, yet exhilarating and a hell of a good time. I don’t know where I’ll be in life in a year, or in five or 10 years – but what I do know is that this record is exactly where I am now, and I am damn proud of it. I hope everyone who listens is too,” they added.
  13. Demi Lovato is looking back at her career. In a new interview with AP, the 30-year-old performer opened up about her new album Holy **** and revealed that she had regrets about doing three documentaries before she turned 30. “I'm proud of the last album that I did, but it just didn't feel like me,” Demi said of their last record, Dancing with the Devil. “I wanted to put music out that I would have fun touring with, and I can't say that about my last record.” “I was so high the whole time smoking w**d that I wasn't focused,” she added, explaining that her goal was to “perform stuff that felt genuine and authentic to where I'm at today, and what I'm listening to. I'm in a new chapter of my life, and I want my music to reflect that.” As for whether she'd consider making more documentaries in the future, like the four-part series that accompanied Dancing with the Devil, Demi shared that it wasn't something she was thinking about. “Honestly, I'm really sick of watching myself, and I think other people probably are too,” she said. “And if they aren't, then they can watch my music videos.” Demi continued, “I wish I would have waited until I had my **** figured out more because now it's cemented. Sobriety is what works for me and nothing else.” However, she added: “My story's not done, so I want to be able to say by the time I've written a book, ‘OK, this is me grown up.’”
  14. On the song “29,” speculated to be about her relationship with Wilmer Valderrama: “When I turned 29, I remember I was on vacation and I just realized I’m 29 now, and it put things into perspective. It put everything into perspective. And I’m very careful with the way that I answer these questions because I feel like the song says it all. I don’t have to say too much, to be honest, but turning 29 was a huge eye opener for me. And then, going into treatment and having realizations led to my transformation, my release of the emotion that was put into this song. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a ton of anxiety about putting out this song. I just said, ‘I have to go for this. I have to own my truth.’ Yeah. And I do still walk that line very finely. I’ve learned that sometimes saying less is more. And it’s taken me to 30 years old to maybe learn that, but here I am approaching the way that I express myself differently in front of the media because it’s okay to have boundaries.”
  15. Demi started her tour in Springfield Illinois State Fair, Will you be going to this tour?
  16. Demi Lovato recently shared that she has adopted the pronouns she/her again and does not use they/them right now. The 29-year-old singer shared about how she felt last year and why she has adopted those pronouns when being interviewed on the Spout Podcast. When asked about they/them pronouns, Demi said, "I've actually adopted the pronouns of she/her again with me. So for me, I'm such a fluid person that I don't really and I don't find that I am... I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced and my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said, women and men, I didn't feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn't feel necessarily like a woman. I didn't feel like a man. I just felt like a human. And that's what they/them is is about. For me, it's just about like feeling human at your core." "Recently I've been feeling more feminine, and so I've adopted she/her again. But I think what's important is, like, nobody's perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, and especially when people are learning, it's just all about respect," Demi concluded. Related:
