The reason I think its so good is because Britney was CONFIDENT from the first second until the last, she was fierce nonstop, way sharper than her dancers, on time, captivating and living in the moment. It felt like she belonged on stage and loved being on it the entire time. I would also love to go back and see it live again and again!

The concept, the choreo, props were killer too.

I was supposed to go, but my show got canceled. :kidcries: I never got to experience it live. It was going to be my first Britney show, too.

It is my favorite tour, but I do flip flop sometimes, because I will definitely say that production/costumes/design wise, DWAD has it. But her dancing was what really drew me in, so Onyx usually wins because it wins on the dancing. Also on that tour book. Its photoshoots were amazing.

My favourite tour. I find the concepts so much succinct that DWAD, as well as the costumes and staging. Most of all the SONGS ARE SO MUCH BETTER than DWAD, because ITZ is, in my opinion. her greatest album.

That said, the BOM and TOMH performances are so boring and pointless. POM actually does them way better. I don't mind ****** stuff, but it's gotta be impressive and fun/energetic e.g. Outrageous. BOM and TOMH in Onyx are a snoooooooze.

Overall it’s the best in my opinion :yaknow: I’ll never understand why some people love DWAD so much,,,

I'm trying to watch Onyx now, but a few things just bother me and make me cringe... I've had to turn it off and I'm not even 20 minutes in:

1) It's basically Armney for the majority of the show. There's only a few dance breaks but it's a lot of twitching, caressing, simulated ***, and making bedroom eyes or acting slutty.  After a while, you just roll your eyes out of sheer boredom.

2) The whole design with the Tour "host" seems to be an over-the-top, flamboyant, fetishy, lame, kinda trashy cheap porno...  Britney would later say just before her breakdown that "being gay is in now" and you can't help but see that this pretty much designed to appeal to that demographic. Since I'm not part of it, I just feel like a sleazy onlooker ...

3) The host sucks. He's annoying as all hell. I can't stand him.

4) The fake lounge singing is annoying too as since she's just walking around with TWO mics, why can't she try to sing it instead of faking it?

5) Aside from Britney's black starting number and one of the girls wearing green, the rest of the 'costumes' suck. They're just various fetish wear... like the ridiculous Halloween costume-style french maid getup. It's just the epitome of trashiness. There's ****, and then there's whoever designed that mess.

The whole thing feels like a dirty diner, not an expensive hotel. I'm not surprised Britney became unhappy after this. It's some perv's fantasy and Britney's exploitation is just sad to watch.

In comparison, DWAD celebrates Britney.  It's powerful, it's rock, it's a few gimmicks to highlight her not steal her thunder. She's the star from start to finish. There's no garbage host or stupid side stories / characters. Costumes are incredible and she's actually dancing from the beginning of the show. In Onyx, she's standing on a damn platform with wind blowing her cape for the WHOLE OPENING NUMBER! DWAD also remixes the songs in a thrilling way, not slowing them down until it's a confusing flash back-forward confused storyline. Can't tell what the hell the era is supposed to be in Onyx. DWAD is a concert.

Anyways... I could go on, but I think Britney turned off a lot of her fans with the Onyx ****. I certainly try to forget about it as much as possible.

some parts of the show are great.. I love the opening , although some fans claim that it's underwhelming..  I pretty much love the first act.

the new arrangements of "crazy" and "baby " are just bad and boring imo. and I'm not sure if the "breathe on me" performance was kind of too much. it was hot, yes, but you know :outwithit: it seems that she tried too hard sometimes. furthermore she didn't look very healthy and happy to me, don't get me wrong, she still looked great but totally overworked with  a lot of energy drinks or whatever it was...

This is WHY I love this tour!!!

Only half serious, I can see what you're saying and think your post is excellent with really good points. Although I do mostly disagree I found it really interesting to read and had never considered some of those things.

I know what you mean about the unhealthy thing, I always think that when I see videos and pics of this tour or Chaotic. It's basically since she met Kevin she became a bit unkempt? Even though she cleaned up really well on stage and her body was great, her skin looked unhealthy and as though she wasn't eating much 'clean chicken'.

When I first became a Britney stan, I watched DWAD. A friend of mine from Twitter and I were discussing, I was arguing Britney was an awful dancer and he showed me the tour to prove me wrong. I was fascinated. Gigantic production, GREAT dancing, great setlist...there isn't anything one could make complains about regarding DWAD (well except for, perhaps, Anticipating being on the setlist :tiffcackle: ). I was starving for more and decided to download Onyx Hotel. I was very much disappointed. Sure, the Toxic entrance with the cape and the choreo, as well as boys and overprotected were great. But that was pretty much it for me. The stage was way too much watered down, and I'd risk to say that, if we were not blinded by either Primeney still top notch dancing skills at the time in comparison to currentney, it's kinda worse than POM in its own right. Sorry girls, I really said it :truthtea:

Onyx is my least favorite tour, Yes, I even like the FFT more please don't drag me. I just find the show kinda bland and boring imo. Production was a huge step down from DWAD, and while the dancing was awesome, there wasn't really much else. The remixes are atrocious imo, and that just adds to how boring the show is for me. However I do like the costumes and choreography, those were on point.

THIS

Onyx was a very bland and tacky tour IMO. The only performances that I like are The Hook Up and Crazy, that's it.

I understand that they couldn't recreate DWAD and wanted a more intimate show (whether that was true, or they had a lower budget) but it came off as cheap, and didn't really have a flow.

I feel like she was trying too hard too much, like "look at me, I'm 21 now, i can be very ****** in your face too", during the Britney era it was better because it was more sensual and tasteful.

She did perform great, I'll give her that, and the costumes were cool too. But that's it, I never cared for the tour, I liked the Crazy2k Tour better

I enjoyed it, not as much as the DWAD tour. It still my favorite Britney tour to this day. But I think what ruined it a little for me was the way Showtime aired the concert. I hated how they put those tacky effects on the screen, and the sound was so weird. Sometimes you couldn't hear her voice, or you could hear the band over her voice. I think HBO did a much better job showing the DWAD Tour.

This! And showtime was not great with their camera work, it kind of annoyed me.

I do prefer DWAD but Onyx is her 2nd best tour after. I loved the concept/theme and Britney’s dancing was some of her best. I agree with you the performances of Shadow and Everytime were very good. I really liked the cabaret version of BOMT too! I loved all of the tour’s costumes as well. Also, the brunette hair she had for the Showtime special was A LOOK. She needs to have that hair colour again!
