WARNING: This is a rant about the original Make Me video bc I am STILL not, and probably won't ever, be over it!

I think it's true it didn't make sense. But it was already there, they should've released that, if they couldn't do something better (I'm talking about the video we got). I think the version from the American Dream was miles better, a little boring, but so much better than the one with the auditions.

I'll never stop saying it, Make Me... is a great song, but it doesn't work as a lead single. At least not for Britney Spears. It should've been the second single instead, and DYWCO the lead. My guess is that they were trying to do something big for the original video, but Make Me... just isn't that kind of song to have a Toxic or Womanizer kind of video, for example. The same with the choreo, doing all those fast movements as if it was Work *****, it doesn't work. And the same with the VMA performance, they even had to remix it (with a non Britney song, brilliant...) because the song by itself wasn't enough for that event. I appreciate that for once they were trying to do things right, but it just wasn't the right song, nor the right timing (the release was so messy :donewithit:, it should've come out around the BBMA to begin with instead of waiting til July), so they ended screwing up everything, as always.

I've tried to move on, the Slumber Party video was amazing. Once again, the wrong choice for a single, but oh well. If someone has the original video scenes in HD, of course I want to see them, but for me, the whole thing doesn't hurt anymore. At this point I just wish they dare to release a third single, but I can already predict it'll be another awful choice like Just Luv Me, Change Your Mind or Clumsy. I've accepted the universe will never listen to me, when I say Alien should've been a single, NTIFY should've been a single, Tom's Diner should've been treated like a real single, DYWCO should've been a single (the lead one), Liar, If I'm Dancing, even Man on the Moon. Team Britney, ya'll are the ones missing them coins, but keep listening to those exhalers and your releases will keep flopping :rihit:

If I'm Dancing is instantly memorable with that opening and Liar sounds like classic Britney. And you're 100% right about Do You Wanna Come Over. IT SHOULD'VE BEEN THE LEAD. And I would've loved Better as a single. It sounds the most current and confident and it's very catchy.

But you see, there were effects applied (like the horrible one on the pool's tv) and the main structure of the narrative is there. Beginning with her coming in, chorus dancing, house with the boys and tv throwing. There isnt an ending but I can just bet it wouldnt save the video. It probably involved that truck that she was driving and she was going to drive over the house. Does this seem like the make me lyrics to you? "Im dreaming a mile a minute, theres no way we're hiding away from this, make me..." when larry said it didnt match the song he was spot on. Where in it does it say she wants to kill her love interest?

Those werent the final effects. lmao. And plenty of Britney videos have nothing to do with the lyrics. I don't see the issue here. :orangu:

That would be a boring video if they followed the lyrics and fans would be annoyed at how uncreative and uninspired team britney are. Many of Britney's videos doesnt make sense or follow the lyrics and yet it works. I actually appreciate how bold ans daring the original video is. Yes its basically a big gay porno but shes basically the face of gay people and its pushing the envelope. How predictable it is for herself to get raunchy and basically people will think shes cooying Rihanna. The fact that it was pulled means that it pissed someone off just like how BOMT pissed some people so that buzz would've been great for her and the song. David Lachappell is known to push the boundaries and if the video is raunchy and a little dirty...so what? Its not like the song isnt clean either, shes basically saying to **** her till she gets an ****** and the song is in her perspective so it makes sense we are in her perspective seeing G on top.

People used to think Robert Mapplethorpe's photographs of naked men were in poor taste and not considered art at all but now his work is appreciated. The song screams *** and they got ***. I want her to push the boundaries, shes not pressured to hit sales anymore so let her explore her creativity.

Honestly the original video looked like a hot mess, it was a whole bunch of random **** and looked like an Andrew Christian promo vid in spots aka way too gay for the GP. I mean the video we got is also a mess, but that's because they had to scramble to get some kind of video released for the single.

What I truly think happened is Britney/RCA/her team were not happy with parts of the original and asked David to reshoot some of it which offended him and he said no and so they had to scrap it and start again with no time and money. I think a lot of it has to do with RCA because they love to interfere with things.....I mean they nixed the original idea for Perfume (which was stupid anyways) and they also ruined Kelly's Already Gone video.

All in all it was a really shitty situation for a great song, if everything had gone as planned which I'm thinking was to drop a great video with the single or a few days after MM would've been a top 10 for sure, but hey #17 isn't bad for a single that had no promo for a month, a shitty video, and was released by a 35 year old female 18 years into her career........I mean Perfect Illusion only debuted 2 spots higher and tons of other older female artists would kill for a top 20 single tbh!

It meant to be this way :mhm:

emptiness made the scene dramatic

I for myself feel the tension in this scene. It was hot.

Maybe she was angry bcuz her bf didnt make her 'ooh' ? We know nothing about the video , the scene could be have been for something else we dont know about.  As i said it could be an outrage of hers towards bf bcuz she couldnt have enough of him or sonething u know :mhm:

To the people quoting me saying not all videos need to match the lyrics, the case here with the original make me is that it goes COMPLETELY against the lyrics. Shes looking for a night with this one guy, instead we would get her killing him and destroying his house, AND having *** with another man in the bedroom, the rapper. And if she was killing him because he didnt make her ooh, like someone pointed out, you really think that is a creative output? Wtf. Yes, she was incredibly hot in it and yes it would have been controversial but it was indeed a mess of a video and theres no denying we can see why she choose not to go with it in the first place. And now PLEASE tell me another video of hers that goes COMPLETELY against the lyrics of the song shes promoting. Please.

The only body double I see is when she throws the tv, which makes sense. :cutesybrit:

The scene of her walking in, I think that's her... it's not like she's been embarrassed to be in a thong this era. :cinderellaney:

Anyways, this video would have SLAYED & gotten Glory off to the proper start it deserved. IMO would have been one of her best videos EVER

Spoiler

& the fact that I'll never see Britney in that gold ball gown scene....

the moment that we knew iconic David Lachapelle will direct I was OVER THE MOON! He's my all time fave photographer and he's work is iconic on it's own.

only Britney team could ruin such invesment...

I will NEVER understand how could her whole team be on set, see what they are shooting, how does it look on screen and then try to tell us they didn't knew how it turned out. It's one of the biggest lies to the Brit fan base ever. We deserve original video and I am more than sure Glory era would be much, much bigger…
