I Will Always Hate Her Family For What They Did To Her, But The Book Really Did Make Me Feel Bad For All Four Of Them

Jamie and Bryan constantly having to live up to their own fathers' ideas of what a man should be, and how it clearly broke Jamie and how it left Bryan aimless and without an identity.

Lynne seeing how her mother stayed with a man in a country she didn't love and how she was essentially trapped, and how Lynne herself was convinced by friends and family to stay with Jamie despite his alcoholism and abuse (this one hit especially close to home because my mother was convinced by friends and family to stay with my dad despite him being a serial cheater).

Even Jamie Lynn got some grace, with Britney acknowledging how hard it must've been for JL to grow up in her shadow and always having to deal with being "Britney Spears' little sister".

Like I said, I will never forgive any of those garbage humans for what they did to Britney. But through her eyes, I understand them a little bit more, and I truly feel bad for them. Maybe if June had been a better father to Jamie, maybe if Lily wasn't so obviously unhappy with her life, Jamie and Lynne wouldn't have been so screwed up, and they in turn would've been better to Bryan, Britney and Jamie Lynn.

Also, anyone think it's kinda weird how Bryan and Jamie Lynn were barely mentioned through the conservatorship stuff despite us knowing they were both heavily involved?

One of the most poignant aspects of her family story involves the insight and integrity she had. When she was on top of the world, she publicly went to bat for them, period. It didn't matter what a valley of tears their lives together had sometimes been. In fact, it was like the key to her daring and ambition in the first place was love for her family, a little girl's very adult unspoken understanding, paired with the need to break the chain.

Point being she frequently accessed the empathy of which you speak, which makes it all the more repulsive and horrifying how things wound up transgressing re: their completely selling her out. For people to mock her present state really takes the cake, because her mental resilience is and probably always was stronger than 99.9% of the peanut gallery's.

I can def. feel sorry for little boy Jamie but old man Jamie, no way, zero sympathy, I mean look at him, he’s got a foot over the threshold of deaths door and he still won’t give up.

He was the trustee for a couple months, alongside the lawyer they wanted JL to replace

The conservatorship was definitely the father then the mother.. afraid of their cash cow not being there for them etc. She was doing her own thing and it was a threat to them regardless of what her mental breakdown was.. Leeches. They felt entitled as most stage parents do. That was their golden ticket from childhood and there way to having a decent life, because other than that everything else seemed to be **** from the sounds of it.

It’s also interesting to note that Jamie Lynn ended her book ranting about a Britney’s, I believe she called it, “diatribe” (her court testimony), and basically said Britney was choosing to keep things going this way instead of breaking the cycle….meanwhile the things she should have been saying (see what I did there?) was how her PARENTS should be breaking the cycle of abuse that family has endured.  I agree, people aren’t born bad…they are conditioned to be bad people.  But Britney did a lot of great things for her family and they choose to continue trying to be the victims in everything.  Britney is FAR from perfect, but she is by far the least of all evils within that family.

I think in some ways you have to find ways to rationalize -to a point- why people do the things they do to hurt you or others.

It's part of separating from self-blame, otherwise if there isn't another reason behind why Jamie or Lynne or whoever... basically I think it sounds like part of a healthy healing journey for her or at least I hope so

They ruined Britney's relationship with her son's after everything she gave them, yet Jamie-Lynn and Bryan have done nothing for that family yet they were allowed to raise their children themselves. I'm positive Lynn wasn't on Jamie's baby daddy side when they broke up like Kevin. Britney gave her mom a new start by buying a house for her with Jamie-Lynn, she paid off her dads debts, they could have broken the family cycle they choose not to. 

 

I can never feel sorry for Jamie or Lynn after what they did to Britney mainly because they never got her help it was all about money and power.

U cant blame parents for ur mistakes as an adult. At some point u have to take responsibility for your actions. They r all guilty as charged. No excuses. Prison is what they need.

Britney should never speak to them or give them any money again.

this is the thing

With all that background and context, Britney should've ended up being a horrible person and probably would still be living in Louisiana a miserable life. But she broke the pattern. And helped all of them, despite everything.

All they had to do was support her, be good to her, and be grateful, that thanks to her talent, discipline and resilience she was bringing in the money, and giving them a life they never imagined to have, including a better future for both her younger and older siblings. Back in the day she never spoke anything but good things about her family and always repeated in every interview how much she loved them and missed them.

She tried to help her father both giving him his own business and also with rehab, but he threw away everything.

It's like, no matter how hard their past and upbringing were, at some point they had to wake up and see how their lives had changed for the better thanks to Britney, but they didn't. In JL's case she should've seen how fortunate she was to escape Bryan and Britney's luck and grow up with all the commodities she did. When they saw her struggle after the marriage and kids, instead of caring about her, all they cared about was losing the money (which wasn't even at risk to begin with) and made her their slave.

Obviously we can't forget Lou's influence on them as well. But one can't be so stupid to turn against your own family just because a stranger tells you so.

It's too bad that they had to live what they did in their past, but that's not an excuse to keep hurting others throughout your life, especially your own daughter / sister.

everyone is Britney’s family was a victim - this is generational trauma - so yes there is some sympathy for them, but also at the same time at any minute of your life you can decide to not be a ducking ******* and this is why I do not feel sorry for them - not the slightest - but I do understand.
