Dance wise definitely Janet, especially the footwork and precision.

Music wise it is more like Madonna but Britney has had some good moments with low tempo/R&B.

Janet was the blueprint for Britney’s showmanship.

Controversy-wise Madonna.

Sound-wise I’d say Janet but only to a certain extent. Mostly her 90s work. But then again she influenced not only Britney but the whole early 2000s sound.

Lyrically neither, Britney’s music is truly shallow.

Britney’s music is Britney’s music. I can’t imagine Madonna nor Janet singing half of Britney’s discography. 
 

Shock value and s** appeal comes from madge and her steps come from Janet. But she managed to create her own lane nonetheless.
