From the Wall Street Journal: "Ms. Johansson said in the suit that her agreement with Disney’s Marvel Entertainment guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release, and her salary was based in large part on the box-office performance of the film."

She's supposed to get "royalties" from the box office income which is smart because she might've have gotten paid a lump sum of $10mil for her role but if the movie grossed $1bil in the box office and her contract states she get 5% from that gross amount, then that's $50mil right there.

It is a breach regardless of a global pandemic. She even gave them an opportunity to renegotiate and they didn't. They should have done the honourable thing FFS ... YOU ARE BLOODY DISNEY! I'm 100% with Scarlet on this, she's an executive producer on this film and they are basically effing her over and hiding behind this "oh but covid" bs excuse.

It was in her contract that streaming would happen later, not simultaneous as it was billed as a theater release.

 

It is a breach of contract, and she deserves her pay day.

Especially when all of her male co-stars have made more than her.

The real question is whether she gets a cut of the profits from streaming. If so, her claim doesn’t have merit. The movie would have made less if it was released exclusively in theatres.
