Jesy from Little Mix teases Solo Music!

Slayer

i'm a bit confused. if she can't handle the pressure of being in a girl group, how is she going to handle being solo? now she only has herself instead 3 other girls to lean on. people were already nasty to her online but i feel like a solo career will be much worse.

if i'm being honest, i do not see her being a successful solo artist. i would love to be proven wrong because i think she's very talented but i can see the bullying getting worse if she doesn't do well :/

i mean, it does seem weird that she said she quit LM because of the pressure of fame etc but then persue a solo career in the same music business she said she found the pressure of it hard. But tbh i always sort of knew right from the offset she would probably pursue a solo career. I mean, lets  face it, she was never going to go back to doing a 9-5 normal job and be a waitress again like she was before X Factor. Maybe as well, shes 30 this year [she was born in 1991 like me]. maybe she doesnt want to do poppy music like LM does. maybe she wants to do more mature music and unfortunately, LM has a fanbase which is widespread of ages so they are stuck with doing more radio friendly music. The only worry is Melanie B did that with her debut solo album Hot which she released in 2000 and it was a much more mature album about adult topics and she even swears in one song called Pack Your S***. And that was cited as one of the reasons it didnt do that well. The difference maybe is spice girls were only together a couple of years and so fans were still young in 2000 [i was 9, i made sure my parents didnt hear that song lol], LM has been going for 10 years now so suppose a lot of their fans will be in their  20s/30s now. But i do know my nieces and their friends like LM and they saw them live in 2018 and they are only nearly 7 and 12.  So Jesy will have to be careful not to completely change it up and alienate LM fans. Because the vast majority of her fans will be LM fans

Yeah I acc thought this.
She seemed to enjoy the LM5 era but it didn’t go down that well with fans and the label so you can tell with Confetti they went back to their cheesey girl group sound.

The timing is def sus, to say the least.

I agree with those saying going solo will only be more pressure on her. No other girls to share the blame/bad press with. Everything will be on her, good or bad, I hope she’s ready to deal with that. Unfortunately, she knows all too well how bad the internet can be.

it will be interesting to see how things play out, especially if they end up releasing music around the same time.

I like this girl, I watched her documentary and I got mad respect for her, but her Instagram tells me a different story, she’s actually doing way too much so people see her as a **** singer, I mean she said she was bullied and she always felt ugly but it seems that she’s still not confident enough, I sometimes feel pressured to like her pictures, but I kind of want  to see a more natural side from her, something that reflects on what she tried to say on her documentary. Less production, less make up, less duck faces, more herself and then I’ll star taking her as a serious and honest artist; nothing wrong with being **** but she seems to do it for approval and not for fun. I wish her well tho!

That's a little confusing indeed. I also was expecting a longer hiatus for her. Now this looks not honest and premeditated (don't get me wrong, you know how much I love LM).

What bothers me the most is that, if it was to have a 2 months break, she could have wait to end of the Confetti era and tour. Isn't touring the best part of the job? Especially when it's the last one as a group. She made only one performance for sweet melody. Fans were waiting for months, took concert places to see the 4 girls at first, then had the concert postponed, to end with just the 3 of them. Real fans were supportive because they know how bad she feels in her personal life. But I can understand fans can feel upset or betrayed now.

Maybe she didn't like the album and didn't want to promote and defend it after all.

I feel like people keep forgetting that being a pop star is a ... job. If you had to leave a high-pressure team-based job due to your mental health issues, but found a similar job that allows you to work on your own for a bit and feel much better mentally, would you not take it?

No-one knows the full story, so we should respect her for what she wants to do - she's dedicated over 9 years to Little Mix, she should be allowed to do what she wants if it is better for her. She has a right to do what she wants.

I have to also quote this other comment I saw on another forum:

I get the confusion going on at the moment but the last thing Jesy needs to see is people being upset with her moving on, she is free to do what she wants when she wants! I admit I was very divided yesterday but now I think... go Jesy, if this is what makes her happy then that’s what we should all support her as it was painfully clear the past year that Little Mix was not making her happy!

yeh, tbh i love LM and ive got tickets to see them next year. But a part of me does think theyve done amazing lasting 10 years, i do think its maybe time for them to go on a hiatus for a few years. they have seemed to run out of ideas tbh, i do think their next album will be the last

i think that was probably her initial plan but she knew like everyone the tour was going to be postponed to 2022 and she didnt want to wait that long. i think if they were able to tour in May this year like planned, she wouldve waited til after the tour

What do you mean they've run out of ideas?

Their last single went to Number 1 and Confetti was the best selling album in the first week by a British Act!

They've been killing it and many people think Confetti is their last album!

I do agree that they should have a break as they've been working literally non-stop but i'd hope they'd always come back together every few years or just take longer in-between albums!

I don’t understand why people find it contradictory.

Her mental health is in another place when she’s working in a girl group. She was a part of Little Mix, but Little Mix is not the only thing she’s about. She’s an artist of her own, and she loves music.

She auditioned for X Factor by herself. It’s clear she loves music / performing. Why do y’all expect her to disappear forever just because she doesn’t wanna be in a girl group anymore.

I’d fully support her first song because I like to see a woman succeed and conquer her mental health issues.

It’s like judging someone for eating fish and chips because they don’t like the raw fish in sushi.

Also, just because it’s premeditated doesn’t mean her mental health issues aren’t real.

You think she’d blindside the girls and the management last minute after working 9 years together? She’s not Canola, and these girls support each other.

of course they’ve talked About it and planned it before the world knows.
