  1. I’m currently listening to it and ‘Girls Want Girls’ has the popular Drake’s touch and vibe. Definitely worth adding to your playlists! Somebody better educate me on the album cover because I’m not feeling it. What could be the meaning behind it? I know his artpop could mean anything, but... Enjoy! I’m coming later with my thoughts on the songs. Any Champagne Papi fans on here? UPDATE:
  2. UPDATE: Drake Bell pleads guilty to the charges brought upon him and faces two years in prison. Jared "Drake" Bell, best known for starring in Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, has pleaded not guilty to endangering a child in Ohio. According to Cuyahoga County court records, Bell, 34, was charged with attempted endangering of a child, which is a fourth-degree felony charge, as well as disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, a misdemeanor. What does disseminating mean? Disseminating matter harmful to juveniles establishes that any material or performance is considered ‘obscene’ when considered as a whole. The charges stem from a December 2017 interaction between Bell and a 15-year-old child at a Cleveland nightclub, Tyler Sinclair, a spokesperson for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, told BuzzFeed News. In a statement, Sinclair said the child filed her case in Canada in 2018, which authorities brought to the Cleveland Division of Police. The subsequent investigation found the alleged victim had established a relationship with Bell "several years prior" and had attended a concert of his in December 2017. "While there, Bell violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm to the victim," Sinclair said. "The investigation also revealed that months leading up to the concert, Bell sent the victim inappropriate social media messages." It is not immediately clear what prompted the charges, however, Fox8 News has reported that Bell allegedly engaged in an inappropriate chat with a victim ‘that, at times, was s/exual in nature.’ Bell posted a $2,500 on Thursday and was also ordered to provide a DNA specimen. "All facts will be revealed in a courtroom," Bell's lawyer, Ian Friedman, told the Associated Press. Friedman could not be reached by BuzzFeed News. Court records show Bell resides in Los Angeles and is scheduled to appear in court via Zoom on June 23. Bell has previously had run-ins with the law due to DUIs
  3. What's up, Exhale I was wondering if any of you has had the opportunity to see a celebrity out in the street, a restaurant or elsewhere living their lives. I live in a small city so the chances of this happening to me are lower than zero. However, during a trip to Toronto in summer 2016, I saw Drake rolling (with a chauffeur, of course). If it weren't for all the people that started screaming and losing their marbles, I wouldn't have noticed him. This happened when 'Hotline Bling' was the biggest thing on earth, so I got a little excited How about you?
  4. So... Drake just scored three Top 3 debuts with What's Next, Wants and Needs, and Lemon Pepper Freestyle going on at #1, #2, and #3 respectively. He breaks the tie with Mariah Carey, Travis Scott, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift becoming the second act with most #1 debuts after Ariana (who has 5). Judging by how artists are scoring #1s that fade away after a few weeks, I think such milestones don't even matter anymore... Thoughts? Source: Forbes, Hot 100 Related:
  5. Drake has called the Grammys irrelevant. Basically saying it's time for us and future generations to create our own version of once was a huge honor and accomplishment. It's obvious the people don't understand we don't want to be defined by one genre, or let the skin color basically force us into a category (Drake said hotline bling was pop, but won all the rap categories he was nominated in, he stopped submitting after that), he basically says it's really only the youth that gets our music and understands that we can do all genres and shouldn't be Limited to either R&B or pop, why be just one genre, when you can be both and be proud.
  6. Whose retirement would you gladly bake a cake for and help in packing their bags? I’m baking a few cakes and packing a few bags, but I bid Katy Perry and Drake a Bon Voyage. Y’all had a good run and I hope you like chocolate cake
  7. Drake releases a three pack EP called ‘Scary Hours 2’ and gives us a taste of what his sixth album ‘Certified Lover Boy’ will sound like. Consisting of three songs — “What’s Next,” “Wants and Needs,” featuring Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle,” featuring Rick Ross - the EP proves that Drake is still in his prime after 11 years in the game. Update: Listen to the songs below and tell me which is your favorite: Tell me what you feel about his new haircut and are you excited or not for his new era?
  8. Ladies, how are we feeling about Drake's new lewk Related:
  9. Drake is tired of making music videos, so Justin Bieber stepped in to save the day. Check out the video for "Popstar," starring the Biebs. Related:
  10. Drake just released a new music video for a song titled "Laugh Now Cry Later." He's over here making videos with Dave Meyers, no green screens. The song is the first taste off his forthcoming studio album Certified Lover Boy. ... baby
  11. Drake broke Madonna's top ten record, and he's got another thing to celebrate. It's rumored that Drake is set to receive the MTV Video Vanguard Award at this year's VMAs. Twitter is dragging MTV because he's getting it before Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and a few others. MTV just buried the awards. Thoughts?
  12. It was bound to happen, but Drake in the shortest span ever broke Madonna's top ten billboard hot 100 record. As he collected his 39th and 40th top ten record. And at the age of 34. He's the youngest artist to achieve and a short span of time as well. He benefited from the digital and was one of the digital sales act to successfully transfer to the streaming world. Which has been difficult for a lot of the iTunes acts to achieve. Bow down to The King of Rap. But it's okay. Madonna still holds the female artist with the most top tens. I've definitely noticed that outside Ariana and Billie and a few others. It's also much harder for females to get streaming acts. Most point down to the fact that since me too era. The constant male bashing, I don't need a man is a complete turn off on music listeners. I've also noticed gay men started to hate it as well. Madonna still holds the record in the UK and most international charts. The US love hate relationship with Madonna began with the Erotica era and the book which nearly cancelled her at that Time..
  13. Ariana Grande just slid passed Drake as Spotify's second most-followed artist on the streaming platform with 47.5 million followers. Ed Sheeran is still miles ahead with 66 million. She is undeniably a pop queen and living legend. Congrats, Ari! But music not the bling. Do you follow Ari on Spotify? Or are you an Apple Music fan #JusticeForNASA
  14. Finally admitting in such boasting matter. He proudly tongued down Madonna. . Making it official 5 years later. The whole thing was staged. Like one Madonna fan said. "The whole thing was staged and planned. Drake didn't have to be a little ***** about it. Drake playing the victim added More fuel to vilify Madonna in the haters eyes." And I'm exiting How Madonna felt about the kiss. "I KISSED A GIRL, AND I LIKED IT!!!!!!"
  15. Hits daily double reports that Drake's Drake's mixtape dark lane demo tapes which hosts his latest #1 single Toosie slide. Might be his first project to not debut at #1 on the US Billboard 200. A place he has consistently topped since he debuted back in 2009. What might prevent the current rap king from getting his 9th #1 album. Country legend Kenny Chesney. Who always does a concert ticket bundle. As both are expected to sell 250K each. While country is not a huge streaming genre. We can't deny. That as a pure sales genre. It still sells hard compared to most other genres in music. This one will be interesting as both have debuted at #1.
  16. Any Drake fans here in Exhale? Or is everyone in the Britney section Drake recently released a music video for his new song titled "Toosie Slide." In the clip, Drake finds himself wandering around his mansion with a face mask, a clear nod to the global coronavirus crisis. The song is also lighting up Tik Tok because of the dance that goes along with it. It's kinda boring upon first listen, but I just knew the GP would eat this up. It officially debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 this week. It becomes his third single to debut at #1, tying the record previously set by Mariah Carey. He's a living legend. Do you like Toosie Slide?
  17. I love looking at mega-famous celebrities' lives right now while in quarantine. It's just such a disconnect from the GP. Drake first showed off his home in the "Toosie Slide" video. He followed up with hi-res photos. It's hideously awesome. I'm just not sure what to make of it. It's like both beautiful and hideous at the same time, and I'm ok with that dissonance. Looking like a Vegas hotel lobby.
  18. Drake has been VERY private about his two-year-old Adonis Graham. Drake had Adonis with former adult film star Sophie Brussaux. He also shared a very heartfelt message alongside the photos. Check it out below.
  19. DRAKE IS CONFIRMED AS A SIGNEE OF LIL WAYNE’S YOUNG MONEY RECORDS ON JUNE 29, 2011. This Day In Pop is a reoccurring RX piece, where BreatheHeavy examines a monumental anniversary in pop music. Whether it be a blockbuster release, game-changing performance, live mishap, or something in between, we’re here to dig through the archives and highlight some of the biggest moments in pop music history. If you let go of the traditional definition, Drake is certainly up there as one of the most popular pop stars of our time. Hip-hop might be his sweet spot, but we’ve watched his soundscape open up as he’s swayed in and out of the blurry genres of rap, R&B, pop, dancehall. In our latest installment of BreatheHeavy’s This Day In Pop, we’re revisiting the chart-topper’s origins when it was confirmed that he had pledged his allegiance to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Records on June 29, 2011. Only a few years after his final appearance on Degrassi: The Next Generation, the aspiring superstar offered up So Far Gone, his debut commercial mixtape, under his October’s Very Own label. The buzz from the set caught the ears of many folks, but when you have figures like Kanye West, Talib Kweli, as well as a number of executives like Warner Music‘s Lyor Cohen, all in attendance of your show, you have to be doing something right. Whispers circulated that he had nabbed a deal with Universal Motown, but it was clear that the loyalty of his inner team might have influenced his decision in a label. “Just know that whatever label we sign to it’ll be because they’ll add to what we’ve created on our own,” Drake told Billboard prior to the announcement. “I am very happy in my situation now, which is signed to Cortez [Bryant] and Gee Roberson at Young Money and management through ‘Hip Hop Since 1978.’ The most important thing for me is being around my team – they are stronger than any label.” June 29, 2011 proved monumental for the Canadian star when it was announced that he landed a joint venture between Young Money and Cash Money, with Universal Republic distributing. No concrete details about the deal were revealed but it’s rumored that the contract included an eight-album obligation. And if you’re wondering how Birdman is involved in all of this, YM serves as a division of Birdman’s Cash Money Records. Interestingly enough, his management wanted Drizzy to be viewed as an independent artist, despite Universal’s role in distributing. “Independent is a funny term. I can go independent, but you need distribution, period. You need somebody to distribute your record and you need that army that a label has to really push the record,” he told MTV News on set of his video for “Best I Ever Had.” “Today is a definitely a comfortable day for me, having my team now that’s been in place for a couple of years. It’s just a great day,” he said. “It’s something new, but it feels familiar.” Drake’s origin might sound like inside ball, but it’s certainly an interesting milestone to revisit in the entertainer’s career, even more so for the folks that watched him play Wheelchair Jimmy on Degrassi. Almost a decade since the signing, it appears as if the contractual obligations of the past are coming to a close. Earlier this month, Drake dropped two new songs in celebration of the Toronto Raper’s first-ever NBA championship win. After the release of his 2018 LP, Scorpion, word spread that the project fulfilled his obligations and the new two cuts Omertà” and “Money in the Grave,” featuring Rick Ross allude to that. The pair marks his first release as a lead artist that isn’t under the Young Money or Cash Money umbrella. Instead, they were released via his Frozen Moments LLC, with licensing through Republic Records. In an era where record labels aren’t a necessity to prosper as an artist with social media and streaming being monumental lanes of promotion, Drake’s next step is an exciting one — just as it felt when he signed to Young Money in 2011. It’s something new, but it feels familiar. This article is a bonus BreatheHeavy RX story. Start your free 7-day trial and enjoy the best premium pop music content on the Internet.
