House of Gucci was terrible by the reviews, and Ariana Grande didn’t do nothing astonishing in that movie even the music felt generic.

Also sad that Denis Villeneuve and Ariana Grande got snubbed!

Gaga has still had an incredible success with House of Gucci. Highest grossing drama film since before the pandemic, and nominated for SAG and BAFTA. It was always a long shot that she would be nominated for her first two leading roles. Her acting career is still in early days, she has plenty of time in the future for more nominations

It wasn’t a long shot. She was the front runner to win since BAFTA nominations were announced.

But that was only predictions. The voting for BAFTA and Oscars is not as connected as it used to be, which is highlighted in the difference in nominations. Gaga's nomination was taken as a guarantee just based on her over-performing at the precursors, but a second consecutive nomination for the Oscar for only her second leading role was always going to be a long shot.

It’s not, but she’s so clearly the top 2 in the voting stage for BAFTA because the jury won’t save that kind of performance / film.

I’m just surprised BAFTA got it so wrong this year.
