Pharrell said all but 1 song from Justified were written for Michael Jackson.

Pharrell said:

Quote

“John McClain was [MJ’s] manager at the time. We sent him pretty much all the stuff y’all are hearing on the ‘Justified’ album. That’s all the Michael stuff."

John McClain was like, ‘Man Michael don’t want that ****. He wants that **** you’re giving Noreaga….he want that ‘Superthug.’”

All but one song was written for Michael. Probably "Cry Me A River."

Here's a link to the Billboard article and the video of the original interview:

I wonder why they all reveal these information? Do they want to other celebs to be dragged?

Imagine if he would say in 20 years that Ariana stole writting credits on Sweetener to get a Grammy or something like that.

Pharrell is a good guy, he was just telling stories. It happens where songs are written for certain artists and then ultimately given to other artists. It's happened to Britney a lot. I don't see it as a bad thing, I like hearing behind the scenes stories about pop music.

Pharrell said this in 2002. Also, Justin Timberlake wrote most of those songs

So he wrote them for MJ I guess

This sounds more accurate. He wrote *Nsyncs gone for MJ and MJ rejected it.

Yep. He probably meant all but one of the Neptunes tracks on the album.

So the producers decided to use Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall as inspiration. In fact, they dusted off five songs they submitted for Jackson’s HIStory Volume 1 and Invincible albums that were rejected. Williams rewrote parts of those songs with Timberlake and created new versions of “Senorita,” “Let’s Take a Ride,” “Last Night,” “Nothin’ Else,” and “Take It From Here."
