Pharrell Williams says nearly all the songs on Justin Timberlake's 'Justified' album were originally written for Michael Jackson

I remember this tea. The Neptune’s songs were written for MJ and they gave them to Justin after MJ rejected them. Also... Imagine MJ singing on Superthug? :jtum_justin_timberlake_surprised_wow_um_blink_eyebrows_shocked:

Gone was written for MJ too. Written by Justin and Wade Robson. MJ also rejected that song so he sung it for the Nsync album.

I would assume Justin helped re write and arrange the songs for him hence the writing credit.
Justin had a lot of support going solo. Label, the industry, he made a lot of connections...Plus Britney’s fame gave him

a huge boost for the drama he created with CMAR.
In reflection he really got away with a lot during the first decade of his career. It’s only caught up to him the last 3 years.

Okay but the producer is confirming that most of the his first album was pre-written for someone else lol. And apparently it's easy to get a writing credit by contributing just a tiny bit. Look at Tik Tik Boom - someone did it before Britney and the lyrics didn't change much on her version but she has a writing credit.

And Beyoncè has a writingcredit, this is his original demo!

But mostly changing / create the melody / beat will give you also a writingcredit.
