it's common practice for any store to mark something up high and then have "sales" when really its just a sales tactic to make you feel like its the best deal...

I bought my copy in the UK on Amazon prior to release and it was 50% off. It’s a very common marketing ploy.

It’s the same price as it was on pre-sale in the UK on Amazon. Prince Harry’s book was the same price in selected stores in the opening week also. The numbers of sales will work as advertising it itself so it’s common they will sell them at a reasonable price. Like when Gaga sold her album for €0.99 opening week

I think it is a marketing strategy, they earned enough already so they are targeting the first week sales numbers! If it was announced after a week that it sold *** million copies, no one would bother to know if which are discounted or not.

It was 50% off on the day of release; its a common tactic used in the UK to make people buy books and make them think they're getting a deal. They were probably never going to charge more than that.

I wouldnt worry about it, it’s now the 6th best selling book in 2023 on Amazon with only 4 days of sales!

What is the sale price though? That matters.

I bought mine for $20 as soon as it went on pre-sale. I looked up a recent "half off" sale that was half off the full suggested retail price of $32. So still $16.

That's not much of a difference but they will probably sell a lot more copies to people who think they are getting a huge deal. It's marketing.

At this point it's already a success. Why not try to get even bigger numbers with a sale price? Could break even more sales records
