IIRC Giorgio Moroder added the bridge after Britney already recorded the original verses/chorus. He was trying to get her back to record the bridge but was unsuccessful.

it's awesome to hear it raw ! I love how she sounds there !!

it gives a very different vibe to the song ! I could see a really cool video for this with her with a trench coat at a café in Rome spying on Italian lovers and maybe some storyline twist like in the  Toxic or womanizer video added on top of it !
