Milkshake was seven years before Instagram existed. She was obviously talking about Selena because there’s no way Kelis could accept awards (No shade to Kelis but what award would we even be speaking of) and talk about women’s bodies on IG when IG wasn’t even around back then. Unless I’m missing something? Who knows at this point lol 

To be honest there is kind of a pattern?…..Shade someone and when called out backtrack and talk about her trauma and how much she admires them. Elton, Xtina, Selena… Same thing each and every time. I’m still rooting for her as always tho. I think it’s just her insecurities coming out and hopefully as she grows more confident and secure she won’t feel the need to rely on social media to process her emotions. ❤️

Yeah... I don't buy it LOL. Love Britney but as others have pointed out, the details of her OG post completely matched/lined up with Selena's music video with the lollipop and ice cream AND the award speech. It was so detailed, so intentionally detailed, it was no mistake of miscommunication. It was a passive aggressive shading display, in my personal opinion. She's not stupid. She's smart. For instance, the OG post, she was calling out an artist [Selena OR whomever] for being a hypocrite. She was not, I repeat NOT (in my opinion) praising the artist in the music video who gave the award speech. It was calling someone out. It was knives out coming for a bish angry-toned message. This is simply PR now. Backtracking. And that's fine. If she wants to do that, fine. She did the same thing to Christina. Faced backlash, then back-tracked "oh no I LOVE Christina, blah , blah, blah".

This is what happens when you are typing with your feelings and hitting the send/post button before thinking it through. Lots of us have done this before too. In office environments, who hasn't sent an emotionally-driven email to their boss or clapped back at a colleague via email and been told later by their boss: hey you know, before you hit send, really think about it! I know I have haha. I guess we also have to remember, Britney is learning the ins and outs of acceptable social media behaviour and etiquette. She's new to it! She's learning. Love her. Been there done that too babes. We all make mistakes. Next time though, rather than back-track, just apologize for the not-so-well-thought-out posts. Rather than claim ignorance & misunderstanding (come on Brit you're smarter) just own it, come clean and move onwards. *My take. If you believe in her latest post about it being about someone else, not Selena, that's cool. We are all entitled to our opinions.

Rather Britney was talking about Selena or not, the message she intended with it wasn't to shade. That didn't come across to a lot of readers so I'm glad she clarified her point.

While I still think she was talking about Selena, I went back and reread her caption. While she obviously was not referring to Kelis as the person making speeches on stage …to be fair…I wonder if she’s just conflating people and timelines as usual ? 

Regardless, Why are fans so uncomfortable with the idea that she was being shady? Im genuinely asking. I can accept that she was being shady and still love and support her but it’s like some fans can’t stand the idea of Britney doing anything less than perfect. I don’t think it’s healthy to pretend Britney is the nicest person who has ever walked the face of the earth. All women from the south seem sweet as pie until you piss us off😂

You're one of my favourite MODs/people on here but "fan" doesn't mean "believe every single word that comes from the celebrity's mouth". We are allowed to think for ourselves and when something doesn't pass the smell test, express how we each feel about it. Right? The back-tracking or "clarification" to me doesn't pass the smell test. I still love Britney and support her and I think if she needs to constantly "clarify" things she says, it's just a sign she's learning and we all have to be a little patient with her and understanding, regardless of how we feel. But I don't think anyone should "attack" her though (are people actually attacking her?)... because we all have made posts and said things online that we wish we hadn't or have also had to clarify because it wasn't wisely worded. I just have to keep reminding myself Britney literally just got her freedom & I have to give her time and space to find herself and her groove without judging her too harshly.

I’m not saying to believe her, what I’m saying is certain people will look for anything as an excuse to attack her or call her crazy and arm chair diagnose her. I’m not saying everyone should agree with everything Britney posts, I’m just talking about the obvious fake fans who are just here to cause trouble.
