According to a music insider, producer Cirkut offered 'Unholy' by Sam Smith and Kim Petras to Britney during the recording session of Hold me Closer, but Britney turned it down.

During the recording session of Hold me Closer? Britney recorded HMC just one day at the end of July and Sam was already filming the Music video during that time.

I think that's unlikely considering Sam and Kim recorded that song months before Britney recorded HMC.

I think it’s true. Artists inadvertently steal music from other artists as the writers/producers know they will make more in royalties and recognition, so they offer it to someone like Britney who is a hot topic that will sell.

Similar thing happened with a lot of songs meant for different artists

This info comes from a Twitter account called adam. The user took over an account that was an insider before, but it seems now it's all fan fictions and guesses, so I wouldn't trust this.
