But he chose Britney a moment later when he was asked which was more iconic between Britney and Justin's denim red carpet look or J Lo and Puffy's VMA matching white outfits.

I don't think he has anything against Britney. Iman was the other guest and she disagreed with Sam in both of the instances above (meaning she picked the Britney snake outfit and the J Lo and Puffy white outfit). 

So they were both wrong in one instance. Britney is clearly more iconic and I don't think you can argue when it comes to those specific looks.
