Why is blonde hair considered Britney's signature look when she started as a brunette/dirty blonde?

Why is Blonde-ney considered her signature look when she's a brunette/dirty blonde on the album covers for her first two, and highest selling, album covers?

 

We see dirty blonde-ney a lot in the Baby and part of the Oops eras and we don't really see this hair color again until 2013 (with a few exceptions I'm sure).

It seemed to get lighter and lighter at the end of 1999 into 2000, but still leans into the dirty blonde look a lot

I think because ppl only see blonde and brunette and just took her dirty blonde look as full blonde, especially since she eventually transitioned to full platinum by the stronger video

Probably because she did iconic stuff when she’s blonde. And she kept the hair since like 2000 onward. She probably likes it that way, as she didn’t go brunette even after she’s free.

Because the Britney Era had this girl EVERYWHERE internationally. The album might not have sold as much as her first two but this was her prime.

Yes. But I don't know if that's a cultural thing, like a US thing or what, but for example for anyone in Latin America, this is blonde

we don't care if it's dirty, clean or dusty, that's blonde hair lol same with Oops or any of the other early videos except maybe FTBOMBH, one of the least popular videos

 

even the album would be considered blonde, or maybe light brown

but apparently it's not just us, since even the Simpsons depicted her like that

but I mean, for most of us around the world a brunette person would be someone with a darker shade like this

so any Britney look from the early years in comparison would look blonde no matter what shade, and thus in the collective memory, Britney Spears is a blonde girl.

That's why even if this isn't accurate, it still looks right

I probably would've picked a darker yellow, but it still looks better than if they went for a brown shade for example.

 

But even if we take the photos from the OP, those weren't as widely known as the actual promotional pictures where she always looked blonder. Or her music videos, or her live performances. So it just makes sense imo

She was blonde in the Crazy video, sometimes, born to make you happy, oops, stronger, dbtltk, Lucky. The only so gs where she wasn’t blonde are BOMT and FTBOMBH so I think it’s safe to say she’s known as a blonde

Most of these videos she was a dirty blonde though. I'm guess I'm wondering why Platinum Blonde is seen as her signature look when her first two eras definitely used darker colors than she has since.

Stronger and parts of Lucky are definitely the beginning of Blondeney as we know her now.

If she had the hair color of her earlier videos/days, most news outlets in America would definitely report it as "Britney Spears is now a brunette/dirty blonde"

Brunette-ney had a very Sandra Bullock quality to her in the late 90s, early 00's

I’d only ever call her brunette for her first album promo photos, and even that was a lighter brunette.

Even her first music video Baby One More Time, I’d personally call that a dirty blonde.

Starting right in 1999 she was either dirty blonde or blonde. Especially for her TV performances.

Yep. That’s how I remember her showing up to promote her first album. 
 

She seemingly picked that color when she was a teen, and seems to have stuck with various shades of blonde ever since for the most part. I think she just likes that hair color.

A lot has to do with her prime! BOMT and Oops were considered the beginning to where “Britney and In the Zone” she was at her prime. The “IT” girl! Her hair during this period was pretty much that signature Blonde shade she rocks.
