A lot of new fans are getting into the best TV series of all time as of lately, thanks to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS) and Angel (AtS) being now available on Disney+. It's about time we get a new proper Buffyverse thread on Exhale !

What's your favorite season and episode ? 

Who's your favorite character ? And why is it Buffy ?

What lessons did the show taught you ?

Ugh I know that it did that to a lot of people, and I felt bad watching the show for a hot minute, but we have to keep in mind that so many other writers were involved and made it what it is today: Marti Noxon, Jane Espenson, Steven S. DeKnight, Doug Petrie... It's not solely Joss's work. As hard as it may be, I also try to separate the art from the artist.

Passion is an outstanding episode, it hurts so hard when Giles arrives into his room... And when Buffy hits the floor.... The acting is just 

I think you should give AtS a second try, it took me years to finally get into it but I don't regret it at all. IMHO, you cannot fully comprehend the Buffyverse without watching the series. Since you love Drusilla, she appears in a good chunk of episodes in the second season, and most of the characters arc from BtVS continues in AtS (Faith, Cordelia, Darla, Wesley, Spike etc.). Start again with Five by Five (E18 x S01), it's a direct follow-up of Faith's appearance in BtVS after she stole Buffy's body. It's so good

Oh ha sorry, I actually did watch Angel (I don’t think I make it to S5) but I meant I didn’t really enjoy it past S1. Like, I really liked the dark noir feel of S1 and how minimalist the show was and Doyle was amazing.

I didn’t like alot of the new characters   they added after Doyle (Wesley, Fred, Connor… although I know Fred and Wesley are quite popular with most fans so I’m in the minority) and I hated what they did with Cordy.

The Faith eps are amazing though.  I also remember liking the beast eps with the sun or something.

But maybe, I was too young to appreciate the show as a child and should go back and rewatch as an adult 

 

Also, the actress, Blanca Lawson,  who played Kendra is enigma and looks younger today  than she did in BTVS. She’s also Beyoncé’s step sister

Well my username is based on Buffy!

I can't pick a specific episode, there are so many amazing episodes! I think my favourite seasons are S3, S5, S6 and S7 - I basically love every season  Season 4 is DEFINITELY my least favourite season though without a doubt.

Buffy was of course my fave but I also loved Anya! I will never forgive what they did to Anya 

I'd say my favourite villains were Glory and The First.

I was sad to hear about all the drama behind the scenes on one of my favourites shows, to hear that many of the actors were unhappy filming a lot of the series was not nice. However, it does make a lot of sense why SMG has always said she would never reprise her role as Buffy.

Everything about Buffy is iconic and she was badass. Buffy will always hold a special place in my heart. I do have to admit I started watching it after it finished as I was way too young to watch it when it originally aired!

I actually plan on getting a tattoo of her stake Mr. Pointy. 
There are so many good episodes it’s hard to choose! So I’ll just go for one that makes me cry every time 😭 The Prom. S3E20 - The moment when she is unexpectedly presented with The Protector award from the students. It’s literally all she wanted- to be seen and accepted- I lose my 💩 every time. Lol oh lord, I’m even tearing up just thinking about it 😂 

And the TWO from Angel that get me everytime- S1E8 - I will remember you. Angel becomes human and he and Buffy have the chance to have an actual life together. Only for things to get screwed up again… when they are kissing at the end and she’s telling him she will never forget and crying… and the day resets, Angel stops the event that turns him human, and Buffy goes back to being bitter towards him as if it never happened at all. And only Angel knows/remembers 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The other is S5E15 A Hole In The World. Fred. Illyria. Enough Said. I seriously ugly cried out loud during this EP 😭😭😭

But the real question, Scooby gang, is did you continue the story with the comics? It follows the events directly after the end of Season 7, and the comics are literally seasons 8-12 (Maybe even 13?) but it’s officially canon- Beautiful artwork, the characters still look like the actors who played them ❤️
 

Favorite Characters- because I can’t choose! 😂 Faith, Anya, Darla, Harmony (yes harmony 😂 she cracks me up.) Cordelia, Fred, and of course Buffy.

Im so sad with the drama surrounding Joss. It cuts a little deeper for me because he was literally a hero of mine for YEARS. I was super into film/video because of him and Wes Craven. And I even wrote a college paper about him and the cultural impact of BTVS. 

You also get extra points if you like the movie with Kristy Swanson- Pike ❤️ It’s also referenced in the series a couple times. So I love that it’s official and ties in.

About Bianca, it's hard to believe that she played a teen for nearly 20 years, yet she still looked younger on Pretty Little Liars in 2012 than in BtVS in 1998 ! She should have played a vampire instead of a slayer !

I always loved that username knowing where it came from ! 

I never thought that SMG wouldn't come back because of what was happening on set. You make a great point tbh ! Have you heard the rumors that she was quite hard on set in that time period ? Apparently she was pretty diva'ish on BtVS and Scream 2... I forgive her though, she was young and the most famous TV actress at the time.

Also, I love Season 4  The main arc is so bad but the stand alones are so strong !

Aww, I love your post ! I see that you are really devoted fan just like me ! I am really OBSESSED with BtVS, as I was for more than 20 years. I thought about getting a stake tattoo too but the symbolism might be a little too phallic 

The Prom episode is not even a strong one imo but that Class Protector scene is just  Buffy deserved that award so much and once again SMG acting is just out of this world.

A Hole In The World is so freaking sad, I love Winifred so much and seeing her go right after Cordy died was such a low blow from Joss. You're Welcome is my personal fave ! 

The comics I personally consider them non-canon, Joss always said that BtVS low budget pushed him to restraints his grotesque ideas and I think that it shows in the comics. It was too different than the show. Did you like the story arcs ?

True ! Buffy still had such a deep impact on all of its fans that we can't overlook the series because it's creator is a dumb.***. 

Also, Walk Through The Fire is legitimately one of my fave song of all time

I’ve been obsessed since it first aired! I’ve met a bunch at comic cons, this one was the best obv, I went to Portland for a weekend break and walked past a poster listing this convention and saw all the BTVS cast and literally bought tickets on my phone right there lol. So happy that so far they’ve all been amazing. I’d be devastated if Charisma Carpenter told me to fu(k off or something 😂 Glad my bf came with me to watch me geek out.
Quarantine ruined my body but I’m working on it again..slowly

How was it meeting Joss ? Was he nice to you ? From what I gathered he is a narcissistic pervert, he acts a certain vile way in front of his "preys" but another in front of others. This is why Anthony never noticed what was going on... He was being a **** behind closed doors.

Eliza was gorj but a little cold to the girl in front of me when she asked her to sign 2 things instead of one. She was super nice to me, tried to mimic my British accent and asked me  a bunch of questions, just really friendly. Joss seemed fine and polite bur like he couldn’t be arsed. I wasn’t really there for him anyway though, was embarrassing cos I was so hyped to meet Eliza that I forgot to bring something for Joss to sign

Oh Charisma was sooo nice! She took a lot of time to talk to us. She told me all about legend of the seeker ha, she even commented on my pic on IG thanking me for a message I sent her. Total sweetheart ♥️
Alyson was amazing, super cute and gave me a hug lol. Amber I’d met before and got chatty with her manager who is also British. Nicholas has to be my fave interaction, he was visibly hungover lol but he was so nice to us fans, asked if he could give ME a hug and just was great. I’m a massive Buffy stan so to meet all my childhood faves was amazing I’m so grateful. Couldn’t have been better!
