Dua Lipa: I'm not successful because of my beauty

Dua Lipa was asked about the power of her beauty, and that stuck with her. She feels like she's reached her level of success because of her talent, not her looks. 

"I've been thinking about it almost every day, and I was just a little bit taken aback," she tells Rolling Stone.

"I've never really seen being pretty or beautiful as some kind of power. It's never been something that I identify with and — with no disrespect to you, obviously — I feel like I was a little bit shortchanged in a way, because I don’t feel like I’ve gotten to where I am because of that."

She adds: "I'm extremely hardworking and driven, and I feel like that's the reason why I got to where I am, through my hard work and my drive, and I just wanted to make that clear because it has been playing on my mind." 

What's wrong with your beauty contributing to your success?

 What a pretentious little brat. She's giving me Katy Where-Is-She-Now Perry level arrogance vibes. One truly successful era and it looks like it's already gone to her head. Somebody should inform her that she's still got a LOT to prove. She can spew this kind of delusional nonsense when she's celebrating 25+ years of relevance and hits. She's not even that pretty  but obviously celebs can't be ugly, this is how this world works. She wouldn't have any success if she looked like a mess, that's the truth. Britney, Ariana etc. too

I know it sounds bad but I don't really find her attractive. Okay, she's beautiful but not THAT beautiful. And not as pretty as Britney in early 2000s soo but no shade, I have nothing against Dua

I've always said she looks like Gal Gadot. I love Dua, but she's an idiot if she doesn't think her model-status looks contributed to her success.

Really? When she released New Rules all I saw were comments about how beatiful she looked. And to be completely honest, one of the reasons why I had it on repeat was because I was mesmerized by her looks.

I do think her beauty plays a big part in her current success, which is not bad imo. Thankfully, she has the talent to back it up.

Oh here we go. This type of pity party tactic might've worked for some like Gaga who isn't conventionally beautiful, but Miss Lipa isn't fooling anyone; there's nothing wrong with how she looks, so this "I'm ugly!" try-hard mess can stop right now.
