  1. Earlier: DaBaby was one of the performers at Rolling Loud Miami, and during his performance he made a highly questionable statement: Source: Billboard.com He then tried to clarify by going on a rant on Instagram: In short: What he said at the show should only concern those who were there. It's easy to misconstrue what he said based on short clips on the internet. He has gay fans, so there's nothing wrong with his statement. One of his friends (?) was in the audience wearing a crop top and living his best life, so there's once again nothing wrong with his statement. His gay fans aren't like those nasty gays that f--k in the parking lot and have AIDS. What a f--king clown. Moreover, T.I., the rapper who's most known for his feature on Myah Marie and Britney Spears' smash hit Tik Tik Boom, decided to show support for DaBaby via an Instagram comment: Yes, because some straight a-shat saying offensive s--t about gay people is totally the same as a queer artist living his truth via his craft. #Equality He also posted an entire five-minute rant on Instagram, but I'm not gonna post it because it's too mind-numbing and long. Dua has responded: We love to see it. DaBaby has apologized: Another "sorry that people got offended" apology. Clown s--t...
  2. DaBaby, is officially cancelled, his comments on HIV/AIDS in particular to gay men (at the height of that pandemic, gay men had to deal with The Reagan administration, who did nothing but let people die, cos of what was considered a sinful lifestyle. It was dubbed Gay Cancer, etc,).. DaBaby's comments adds more fuel towards the astigmatism of Gay men And AIDS, in the era of PREP which has allowed Bareback to come back into mainstream popularity without pulling out in the gay community, these comments actually hurts us still.. Miley unfollowed him, Dua Lipa is working to remove the remix of Levitating with Dababy, Elton and Demi condemned and shared facts about the disease.. As for Dababy, he apologized to his straight fans, but as we see he didn't apologize to his gay fans, saying you're gonna do what you're gonna do.
  3. Dua Lipa appears on Pop Smoke's new song "Demeanor." I wish she had even more of a presence on this. Pretty catchy though. Thoughts, Exhale?
  4. https://thatgrapejuice.net/2021/06/dua-lipa-dazzles-for-vanity-fair-confirms-shes-working-next-album/ She has begun work on her Third studio album, I think Prisoner and The sublime (90s band) influenced We're good, is going to be the main inspiration of her 3rd album.. Her first album was very R&B pop mixed with acoustic ballads, but One Kiss and Grammy winner for best dance recording Electricity, was a teaser of what would become Future Nostalgia, so her 3rd album will be something completely different with a new aesthetic..
  5. Update: Dua Lipa confirms she's working on new music (WBK but still). 11. DISCLAIMER: This thread hasn't been opened to ignite an internet war and to raise a discussion on a realistic and unbiased ground. So please do not see the thread as a medium to start Exhale War -1882 Hello Everyone! Last year and this year have proven to be Dua's years. She has completely taken over the pop scene with her sophomore era "Future Nostalgia" which has become even bigger this year. The album has won a grammy, has over 2 billion streams, bagged up 4 smash hits, is the best selling female album of the US (2021), has received massive critical acclaim, sold 4 million units WW and is now on track to get Dua's first ever #1 with Levitating. Not only does it have huge success, but has also been credited to the revival of disco music and 80s synth pop we witnessed last year. So It'd be pretty much an understatement to say the era was just huge, considering that it has become some of the biggest pop eras of the past 5 years and has become a milestone in Dua's career and legacy in the future. However, a worry has arise among pop culture stans who believe that with the trajectory Dua is heading with is similar to that of Katy Perry's legacy. Why? Well... In 2008, a 23 year old Katy Perry released the hit single "I Kissed A Gurl" which become a huge breakthrough for her career after her debut gospel-rock album "Katy Hudson" failed to even sell over 1k copies. She eventually released her second studio effort "One Of The Boys" which become a pretty big hit, staying 90+ weeks in the billboard hot 200, and selling 10 million units WW. However, this wouldn't be Katy's peak as she was destined for something even bigger. In 2010, she started her era titled as "Teenage Dream" which become a phenomenal success. Suddenly, Katy Perry become even bigger of a celebrity and pop star than she was earlier. She reached a peak that only a few such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Britney, Madonna and Michael have seen. She followed it up with an even more successful era which was "PRISM". Between 2008-2015, it could not be denied that she was a global phenomenon. Her songs were everywhere, the radio loved her, kids loved her, the GP loved her...However, this glory wouldn't be last for too long. Katy Perry followed up these 3 extremely successful eras with the notorious era "Witness". Let us just say, things didn't go the way Katy expected. We witnessed some of the greatest declines that year, as the album failed to half of the success of her previous eras. It's only savior was "Chained To The Rhythm" which was the only hit of the era. However, even this song could not help better the performance of the record. In the end, the album fell into oblivion and Katy Perry's earlier power faded away. She tried to come back with SMILE, but the era even ended up performing worse than "Witness", becoming her first album since Katy Hudson to sell below a 100k in its first week. Nowadays, Katy Perry is honestly seen as a memory of the millennials and generation z of their school/college days and has pretty much become a fad of the early to mid 2010's. So what is the elephant in the room? It's fair to say that Future Nostalgia is pretty much the "Teenage Dream" of her career. The era received humongous amounts of success and is already being seen as the biggest pop era of the 2020's. However, it is feared that she will end up as Katy. Akin, her third follow-up will become a massive era but from there onwards, she will fall into oblivion. Why? Because she has many of the things that Katy had which inevitably led to her downfall. Dua despite the massive amount of support she has does not have a strong and loyal fanbase. She has the GP's support but will she end up as Katy Perry if the GP lose interest in her or her stans will be able to keep her relevant. Second, her team has been doing amazing in promoting but will this lead to overexposure. Thirdly, will Dua be able to blend with the shift in pop culture and will competition and market be much more higher? So what do you guys think? Do you agree? Disagree? Lemme know

  17. @Midnight's "Rihanna vs. Miley" thread inspired me to to start this discussion, as I once again realized that I don't really listen to Rihanna anymore despite being a huge fan back in the day. So, this got me thinking - what artists did you guys use to listen to that you don't anymore? Here are my picks: If y'all didn't know, Rihanna used to be THE pop girlie in my eyes. When I say I was obsessed with her, I mean it. In fact, the Good Girl Gone Bad tour was the 1st tour I ever went to, and GGGB was the 1st CD I ever bought. However, in recent years I've developed an appreciation for people that actually write their own songs, so I slowly but surely fell out of love with Rihanna. Plus, her more recent albums (namely, Unapologetic and Talk That Talk) weren't that great. ANTI was really good, but I had already moved on to other artists. Y'all gonna destroy my fraudulent azz for this, but I haven't listened to any of Brit's music in over a year. I don't even know why I participated in any of @Slayer's megarates. Consider this a coming out - I'm coming out as a complete and total fraud. These days, I only use Exhale for pop music discussions and #FreeBritney updates. I've been a fan of Dula Doop for longer than any of you fads - I was obsessed with her debut album, which came out in mid 2017, and I had my eye on her before that because of Be the One and Hotter Than Hell. Her debut album was the soundtrack to my trip to Turkey, so I was extremely excited for Future Nostalgia. Obviously, I loved it as much as the next f@g, but by the time the repackage came around, I had already gotten over her because of all the overexposure and how much I had overplayed FN. I really didn't expect to grow bored of Miss Dula Doop, but I did... Ari was already on my radar during the Yours Truly era because of The Way, but it was My Everything that turned me into an actual fan. I freakin' loved that album, and Dangerous Woman was really good too (it hasn't aged that well, though). When it came to Sweetener and thank u, next, I didn't really vibe with her new direction, so I didn't even bother with the albums. I fell so out of love with Ari that I haven't listened to Positions either. I lowkey forgot that it even exists. I've been an avid fan of alternative pop girlies since Lana Del Rey burst on the scene, so I was obviously interested in Melanie as well. I gave Cry Baby a shot and adored it. I think Soap was the first song that caught my attention, but the whole album is brilliant and still holds up. However, it took her so long to release K-12 that I just lost interest. She showed 0 artistic growth - K-12 was the exact same thing (but less interesting), so I listened to it once and forgot about it. I've heard good things about the somewhat recent EP, but I couldn't be bothered. I bet most of her fans have moved on to Hillbillie Eyelash too. The way I lowkey deserve to get cancelled for this thread... Anyway, sound off, y'all.
  18. DUA Lipa is riding high on the glory of being a thoroughbred Brits winner — and she is already back in the saddle. The singer, who scooped two gongs and performed a medley of her hits at Tuesday’s awards show, mounted a green bucking bronco in a video shoot for her new record. Onlookers also saw her ***ily writhing in a neon-lit outfit for the scenes, which were filmed last week at a huge ballroom in London’s Grosvenor House hotel. My source tells me: “Dua is still enjoying the success of her latest album Future Nostalgia and was thrilled it won a Brit award, but she doesn’t want to put her feet up and take it all for granted. “There is already new music in the pipeline and the video for this looks incredible. It was a massive production with loads of crew, stunts and staging — including a horse. “When you turn up with that sort of kit it causes a stir — and the results look sensational. She’s going from strength to strength.” I’m told Dua was suspended from the air in racy, acrobatic positions — and some of the intense routines even required a stunt double to avoid any accidents. The Physical hitmaker hinted at a follow-up record at the Brits this week, explaining: “I’m working on some bits, so possibly there will be something soon.” Source: The Sun
  19. Bebe Rexha says she wanted to get herself, Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Ava Max all on one track together (they all share Albanian heritage), however it's not going to happen because Dua and Rita are fighting. “I have really tried. I don’t know what’s really going on there or what the drama is. I’ve tried to always be the peace-keeper and bring the girls together," Bebe tells The Sun. "For me, I would really love to do something together but I’m not sure that will ever happen. And I won’t say any more about that.” She adds that they've become competitive because of the nature of the industry. “It’s weird because I know how it is to be a girl and sometimes we can get really competitive. I’m not even talking about me, Dua, Rita and Ava, I’m just talking about females in general. What happens is there’s not enough women at the table." “I don’t know about the UK charts but here in the US, a couple of years ago 80 per cent of the radio was male and only 20 per cent of the songs that were played were by women. That’s messed up. When we see that there’s only 20 per cent of us, we feel like we have to compete, we’re a minority in the music industry." “It’s sad that there’s an unspoken competitiveness because I see it as, ‘How awesome is it that we all have our own levels of success?’ I would love for it to happen because I know all of these girls individually and they’re all awesome chicks." Meanwhile, Ava Max remains unproblematic. Thoughts, Exhale?
  20. Edit: Heard this song was making a comeback so I mixed up a little revamp of the one from last year. Version with Madonna & Missy: Original post: Really happy with how this turned out. The sound is inspired by teen pop of the millennium, and the visual emulates the internet experience of the time. Seeing as we're coming up on the 20th anniversary of the Oops! album, I thought it was a perfect time to post it, as the mix sounds like it could have come straight from that time. She won awards for 'Best Female', 'Best British Act' and 'Most Played Song' for Don't Start Now.
