I thought they said they disbanded because of Park Bom’s **** issues

There was a scandal which was blown out of proportion. Park Bom has ADHD and those ***** are illegal in S. Korea. She tried to get them into the country while travelling back from the USA (she's a born American) and the police caught it. Some journalist was on the airport and literally created a fake story shes abusing *****. All of this was proven and the reported was fired from his company. However, YG still disbanded them although her name is cleaned. It's a label known for sexism, provingly. Seungri from Big Bang was caught trafficking girls and selling them to business partners for ***, YG didn't wanna disown him until the very end when court deemed him guilty.

Tea. If the girls do disband too soon, it'll be because of YG, not solo activities. The girls obviously love and support each other. :idkney_britney_glory_carpool_karaoke_unsure_idk_nervous:

Rose having a solo project is nothing to be concerned over. It's completely normal for Kpop artists (especially in YG) to be given this opportunity. 2NE1 for example. CL had solo releases, Park Bom had solo songs, DARA had a solo song etc. I think the only person who didn't was Minzy, hers was a joint song with CL. I honestly think it is clever for the label to give their artists the chance to get their solo creative itch scratched every so often, so they aren't left to wonder what it would be like, and eventually just leave the group all together.

Her name might have been 'cleared', but the Korean public still hadn't gotten over it considering she did technically lie. She had the meds in a container that said Jelly/Jam or something of the sort trying to disguise them as snacks, clearly trying to smuggle them in without being detected. She knew those medications were illegal in the country, she had been told that, and still attempted to bring them in anyway. Did she deserve the backlash? No, but she did mess up so there isn't really clearing her name in this case. Netizens continued to call her a **** smuggler and a **** addict. They just added those on the list of insults they already had her pegged for over the years (plastic monster being one of them). It didn't matter how much they tried saying she was innocent, the public made their decision, and it was to deem her as a criminal and there wasn't much YG could do that at point. Even when they had that surprise performance at the MAMA during CL's set, the South Korean netizen reaction wasn't all that great. It was extremely evident that Park Bom would not be coming back from that, and if she did, it would be with limited fanfare. She attempted comebacks later and most of the support was minimal and international. Minzy also got sick of waiting around and left. 2NE1 couldn't continue on after losing a member, and having one barely hanging on due to public scrutiny.

While I can agree that YG can be ****** (Kpop and South Korea in general is pretty ****** if you ask me), your statement on the Seungri situation is incredibly inaccurate. The investigations really started to pick up and directly involve Seungri in February 2019, and he was ejected from Big Bang and YG in March 2019 directly after he was booked for questioning. It didn't take him being deemed as guilty, as soon as a target was placed on his back and the negative attention became too much YG gave him an ultimatum. It was all under the guise of him 'retiring', but sources said that YG wanted nothing to do with him as it would lead to YG being invested too (which he was in the end anyway and found to have partaken in illegal gambling overseas). YG didn't protect him until the end, they washed their hands with him even quicker than Park Bom. She at least got to wait out the rest of her contract, Seungri was pretty much pushed into agreeing to terminate.

I thought it was common knowledge for Kpop groups to explore solo projects?
Rose and and Lisa aren’t the first within BLACKPINK to go solo.

This has been teased for a long time and I am soooooooo excited. Rose is my absolute favourite in the group.

I bought ‘tickets’ to their YouTube concert January 31st and can’t freaking wait.

I was kind of surprised how candid she was about releasing solo material. Is this the beginning of the end for BP? Thoughts?!

This is K-Pop, is a pretty common thing that members of a group will do solo albums and still stay with the group. They can actually do both.

Like... why? seems like the kpop industry is trying to burn this girls out until they have nothing left anymore. What happened to quality over quantity?!?

BLACKPINK are the last group you should mention when it comes to quantity over quality. For the longest time, there was an inside joke about them having been thrown into a dungeon because of how little music they released. In 4.5 years, they have only released 22 songs, so it's refreshing to see them finally picking up steam. :heresthetea_reading_telling_glasses_talking_preaching_facts_paper_wendy_williams:
