19 Years of BreatheHeavy: iconic layouts from 2004-2012

Hey fam, I'm going to take a trip down memory lane this week seeing as BreatheHeavy turns 19-years-old today, June 4th.

Here are some of BreatheHeavy's ancient themes used from 2004-2012.

I literally changed the layout every month or two in the beginning because I genuinely was having so much fun doing it. Love me a good theme change.

It's super interesting to watch my graphic design skillz develop over the years. Some of the stuff I made in 2010-2012 is low-key pretty lit still.  

The later years is when the themes started to get kinda iconic.

One of them had a tear over her mouth as a response to the conservatorship, but I removed it at some point and didn't save that version. But I remember it getting a lot of hype on Exhale back then. 

Super bummed I can't seem to find the layout I used when we launched in June 2004. It was called 7 Deadly Sins. I used 7 photos from Britney's Casual Fridays photoshoot - the one of her in the tie from the calendar.

Do you guys remember any of these? Comment your favorite one. Or if there's one missing post in the comments and I'll see if I can find it.

Wow, the design for 2003-2007 looked so ahead of its time for that era  definitely my most fave is the 2007 one (ironically )

I remember the layouts since 2007 (minus the first one in 2007), that's when I found out Breatheheavy. I occasionally visited the website but I'm not sure now in which exact year I signed up.

I think I started visiting BH in a regular basis starting in 2011, since that's when I started to hear less about Britney on tv news, etc, but for some reason these two seem very familiar to me

Boy do these take me back! I remember visiting BH every once in a while during middle school (06-08) to see what Britney was up to, but I got most of my updates from X17  It wasn’t until the Femme Fatale era that I began lurking more frequently. That layout from 2012 brings back vivid memories for me  I’m glad I finally gave in and made an account. It’s much more enjoyable actually interacting with the community than it is watching from the shadows. Congratulations @JordanMiller and Happy Anniversary BreatheHeavy!

You may have launched it in June, but the Internet Archive has record up until March 2004*.

I don't recall the first but the second onwards are all still very fresh - always loved the **** in training one; I recall messaging you about it, I think about how you did some effects as I was trying to learn Photoshop back then and Forum signatures of your faves were the 'in' thing to have, I used to make them for ppl on other forums (miss that time of the internet).

I think I actually stumbled upon BH through a Limewire download of a Brit remix - I'm almost certain I saw BH in a file name or description and it led me here... been here since, but gave up Exhale long ago.

Checked in daily throughout the Chaotic years as I define them. I remember the adrenaline getting home to get online but also the anxiety of what to expect from the latest headlines, especially with a 16hr time difference to LA. The site has changed dramatically since then (I hated almost every change along the way but that's human nature to most people and I got used to them eventually) but good for you for sticking with it and persevering through some of the **** thrown at you from the fandom. BH is actually the only site from the early 00s internet days that I've stuck with after the many cosmetic/content changes, so  (even if those annoying af Oops error pages nearly made me walk away).

(Also saw your lowkey mention of that JT blog you had. Thank gosh that ended - pity that poseur's career didn't end as quick as that blog )

Congratulations Jordan, for you and for the people who have worked during these 16 years on this website, it has not only been important to read, comment, criticize, get excited and show our love to the person who unites us worldwide, but also to have a moment of evasion from our routine lives and distract ourselves and be for a moment in a bubble.
