Why are all news outlets saying she sold 1.1 million copies ?

Did she sell 1.1 or 2.4 million? Either way it’s great but yeah the uk media have all said it’s 1 million and how Harry has kept the record of being best seller in the first week.

It is a bit confusing indeed. Many of the US outlets do forget to add that 1.1 are just US-specific sales. For the 2.4, it is not really clear either. People stated that "the book has been published in 26 languages/territories and is a #1 bestseller with an estimated 2.4 million copies in print globally". You could either see these as sales since they call it a global bestseller, or as the total of prints currently out in the world.

1.1M is basically confirmed for the US. WW numbers haven’t been counted yet as far as I know. We have to wait and see in the next few days if 2.4M is accurate.

Fingers crossed it beats Harry’s book then.. just annoying how media are already saying she fell short of being the best selling book if they’re only using the USA sales. Hate the media, incompetent

She didn’t. She just claimed that her memoir is the highest selling celebrity memoir of all time. If we count Prince Harry as a political figure, it may be true.

Some of the best selling celebrity memoirs are of Matthew McConaughey’s and Jeanette McCurdy which both I believe have recorded sales north of 2M copies each.

1.1 million in the us and 170k uk plus 120k? In germany put the current total at 1.4million ww ofc theres a ton of countries left to count, but id say 2.4 million sound more like the total first week sales ww. 
 

she didnt beat harry, but politicians or royalty are a different league people will read those no matter if they never follow that persons life, its like general culture much different to celebrities who rely on fans to sell.
 

Besides harry did interviews to promote his book as far as I know, britney is pulling these numbers after 5 posts on social media (which some of them she later deleted) and an email interview with people mag tbh.

The publisher’s pr must have sent out a press release about the US sales numbers and all outlets are picking it up… They probably did that to be able to follow up with global numbers and get more coverage
