Taylor retaliates against Rihanna, releases Anti-Hero instrumental to secure the #1 spot

I get the backlash but billboard allowed album cuts cos in the late 90s, the labels stopped selling singles and sent them to radio..

Don't speak by No doubt, Iris by goo goo dolls and others unfortunately massive hits was ineligible to chart due to radio play album cuts, by 1998 that rule changed to match the industry at the time.

Thus allowing taylor swift to create a very impossible record to break or achieve in the album era of the industry.

They literally said that she dominated the top ten without streams - it was pure album sales.

How do you read Billboard articles? LOL

From billboard: "Notably, the streams for Swift’s songs in the Hot 100’s top 10 were strong enough that all 10 tracks would’ve ranked in the region even without any chart points from sales or radio airplay."

She did not need either to dominate the chart, her streams were enough.

Swift surpasses Drake, who logged nine of the Hot 100's top 10 for a week in September 2021.

This video has the most accurate statement.

Pop stars get one imperial phase, to have more than one is rare, to pull a three like Madonna did in 2005-2006 at 47, with confessions that her yet to be seen of someone can pull a third phase.

Midnights is now Taylor's second imperial phase,  and the impact is bigger than 1989, especially cos streaming is more popular than sales, but Taylor managed to sell more than most acts do

Two weeks since release her label said 6 million has been sold worldwide and 2 Million in the states.

Also led to the discussion is Taylor swift a vinyl gig, answer is 30 by Adele is.

Taylor performs well on vinyl, Adele well one year later, 30 is everywhere being not sold.

So Midnights is her second imperial phase,  when will others have that.

Probably never.

Her label is laying. It sold 2 million worldwide not 6. Just check the facts. And Midnights is too early to call it a success. Big numbers is more easy with streaming now but albums fade very quickly. You need more than one successful single to say it’s an imperial phase. I don’t think Anti-Hero is an organic hit, and not other song on this album will be a hit.

And how to do you interpret “would have”? Clearly, sales were it, and the streams included just helped it even more. Now if it said, that the streams outweighed sales, then yeah one can say the streams are what did it. But one could go either way on this on e bub.

What? :decisions_britney_thinking_confused_focusing_unsure_xfactor_bw_black_white: Billboard declared the opposite (pure album sales don't count for the Hot 100 tho). Taylor debuting 10 songs in the Top 10 was thanks to her massive streams.

That’s saying either way, the songs would’ve dominated. Pure album sales were strong enough to do it, she wouldn’t have needed the streams. I’m just proud of haven been apart of that is all, the streams I could care less about because she’s already on repeat. :clicktina_xtina_christina_aguilera_mouse_computer:

It's both, but research billboard hot 100 first big change in 1998

Album cuts was included cos labels stopped selling singles and focused on album sales.

That's why people are saying change it again. As it was allowed during radio era,  but it has to change to coincide with music consumption.
