'Hold Me Closer' didn't get a single MTV EMA nomination

MTV EMA nominations were announced today and SLAY Me Closer didn't get a single one... any reason why?

Because MTV tries soooo very hard to get new audiences, since they are pretty much irrelevant nowadays. They will only nominate the "safest" artists (the most popular inside the tiktok generation). People pay less attention for awards for a reason.

They didn't get nominated because maybe the video was released after their cutoff date or it was because they also thought the video was hot garbage.

the VMA's nomination period was from July 2021 to May or June 2022, and the ceremony was in August. So I suppose for the EMA's if it's similar, the period must've ended in August this year.

Hold Me Closer video came out in late September, and even if it was still within the time period, it was probably too short of a time to have an actual impact to be considered nomination worthy.

These awards are not organic, they are usually bought by the label and nominations are usually exchanged for appearances. There was zero chance HMC was going to get nominated. It’s just the way it is.

yeah I'm seeing Unholy too which was released last week lol
