Ugly custody fight = Billable hours

Wasser and MVK likely knew the ugly custody fight was coming as early as September of 2004.

They had lots of time to plan.

A few specifics from the prenup:

FED-EX’S PRENUP A BRIT-CH; LEAVES HIM WITH ONLY 300G

November 12, 2006 5:00am

Kevin Federline may have to hand over the keys to his Harley-Davidson and his Ferrari when his divorce from Britney Spears is final.

Hopefully, Fed-Ex can go far on the $300,000 that he’s going to get from Brit based on their prenuptial agreement.

Britain’s Daily Mail yesterday revealed details of the contract the lovebirds signed prior to their October 2004 wedding.

The 60-page prenup, prepared by her legal team – headed by hotshot Hollywood matrimonial attorney Laura Wasser – protects a net worth estimated at the time to be in the range of $100 million.

That includes cash in the bank, music residuals, advertising endorsements, touring revenues and “vast swathes of forestry” in Louisiana.

Spears’ legal team pulled together a large array of documents to make sure every asset was covered, and even drew up a contract to make sure that the “faux” wedding they had on Sept. 18, 2004 – for the benefit of the paparazzi – would not be legally binding.

The entire process shows an incredible amount of legal acumen for someone whose bubble-gum persona gives the impression of an air-headed cheerleader.

“Everyone thinks that Britney is this hick from Louisiana but, in reality, she is an extraordinarily astute businesswoman who has built her self into a global brand,” a source linked to the prenup negotiations told the Mail.

Not only was the vast amount of her wealth made before she ever met Federline, but Brit was hardly productive at all in the two years since she’s been married – unless you count popping out two sons in the space of 14 months.

The prenup agreements lists her music worth as just over $25 million, including her contract with Zomba Records which earned her just under $10 million for her fourth album, “In the Zone,” released in November 2003.

During the 2004 tour for that album, the contract states that she was paid $400,000 on average per night. The prenup also estimated she would tour every two years, but she hasn’t, and has only released two compilation albums since.

She also cleaned up on royalties for her songs, getting 20 percent of every album sold, and about $300,000 per song used in any film or advertisement. “In The Zone” is listed by Soundscan as selling more than 3 million copies.

Even with getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the prenup, however, K-Fed may have one last hope at getting rich of his pop-tart ex: The former backup dancer is rumored to have a s** tape of him and Britney, which could be worth millions.
