Gaga called "Artpop" one of her most critically acclaimed albums

I think it's a great record, weird at moments but pretty well done. 

It was tainted by the "leaking" of Applause, the unfulfilled promises of music videos, and the shelved Artpop 2.

Gypsy is a bop.

Do What U Want is a mf banger, what a shame it featured R.Kelly (his voice, though).

Manicure is pure fire.

Donatella has its cringy moments but that intro and the production slap. 

Venus and G.U.Y. deserved a lot better.

Dope... maaaaan that was heartfelt.

Artpop the song is cute, too.

Applause was genius.  It was too artsy for mainstream and she lost some steam during that era. It's not her best. Chromatica > Artpop

This album is a mess, it reminds me a bit of Bionic - there's any strong single on the record. "Applause" is soooooooo basic. Her image in this era was a mess too - after Born This Way people went tired of her pseudo artistic style and she decided to explore that even more lol.

This album should be called "BasicArtPop" - there's a lot of basic songs, but for sure a few experimental and artistic (Aura & Artpop). But it's not a cohesive record. "Venus" sounds like a mix of three diffrent songs combined into one. Mess.

I think that she worked on this album too long and she overthought the project.

The only thing that i can appreciate about this CD is a fact that she showed (finally) a little bit better songwriting There's not that much chorus like "ale ale ale ju ju da pa pa pa face"

Gypsy is a waste potential hit. Do What U Want should be recorded with Christina since beginning (if Gaga would ask her, she would do that if she did a remix - and they could keep that in secret and released it just before the album, it could be massive). As well DWUW its a great song. And the version with R.Kelly is good as well*

So half of the record its really good, half of it its a cheap trash. "Donatella" its a nightmare.

 

*Actually I find very disrespectul from Gaga to remove that song after R.Kelly situation. His sitaution is his private thing and shouldn't be releated to music. Gaga is a fake person and she always do things to make herself better in public eye. Disgusting. R.Kelly is a rnb legend with his scandals and without. After the scandal she's pretending that this song and collab dont exist, lol. Fake snake. If the song would be a massive #1 she wouldn't do that.

If by critically acclaimed she means overrated by her fans, then yes it is.

The album is a mess. It was late to the EDM trend, the tracklist doesn't make sense, the singles are weak. There's some fun moments but overall it's not what she makes it out to be.
