Theory: SITS is about finding freedom in death

Hear me out on this one… something about the song has always stuck out to me as intriguing and slightly off. I truly believe this song is about finding freedom in death…

“HOLD YOUR BREATH TILL WERE IN TOO DEEP” (dying)

 

“THE SUNS OUT OF HEAT” (there is no life on earth without the sun)

 

“We’ll dive in head first all the way down in gravity’s arms”

 

The whole thing makes me think of a Romeo & Juliet joint tragedy sort of story… sweet but very dark… two people only finding freedom in the afterlife/outside of this physical world.

Might be. It always felt very melancholic to me, not just romantic. I actually like your interpretation of it. I’m listening to it now and using your view of it, it makes it a more powerful statement. It would be interesting to know what Britney herself says about it. Her artistry really is under-appreciated and at the same time intriguing. She’s so enigmatic and I love her for it.

Lol no! It’s about dreaming! “Out of time“ and “sun’s out of heat” refer to it being nighttime and guess what’s also out at night....stars! She’s dreaming of love, it’s very similar to MOTM in subject/vibe and Shadow as well because I think that it also referring to dreaming of love!

I can't listen to it anymore knowing that Britney didn't even approve the final version.
