The Weeknd: my Grammys are meaningless

The Weeknd says the Grammys he won previously mean nothing to him now.

"'Look, I personally don't care anymore. I have three Grammys, which mean nothing to me now, obviously," he said in a new interview with Billboard.

"It's not like, "Oh, I want the Grammy!"' he said. 'It's just that this happened, and I'm down to get in front of the fire, as long as it never happens again."
 
"I suck at giving speeches anyways. Forget awards shows."

"We did everything right, I think. I'm not a cocky person. I'm not arrogant. People told me I was going to get nominated. The world told me. Like, "This is it; this is your year." We were all very confused."

Exactly what I was going to say. He obviously was and still is very hurt by this. It’s like someone not inviting you to their party and you being like well I didn’t want to go to your stupid party anyways.

It sucks for Abel. He had to choose between headlining the super bowl or being the big nominated artist at the grammys.

I feel for him, honestly though if I were a musician I wouldn't care about awards they don't represent the value of your work.

It's nice to be recognized but what matters more, the impact you had on people/fans or the recognition ?

All awards shows are pure PR anyway, he needs to calm down.

What a spoiled, entitled man-child he is. If he didn't care about the Grammys he wouldn't have had any reaction to his recent Grammy snub, yet he's thrown every tantrum imaginable since then. He's the male Nicki Minaj at this point, except he actually does have Grammys already.

It never ceases to amaze me when artists actually complain about NOT receiving awards. It's SO embarrassing to me. 

It comes off so pathetic. You should always just be thankful you're nominated for ANYTHING and if you don't win something, just keep it moving.
You're not owed anything.

These artists are nutz, the other case is when you get 8 nominations to the Grammys and then complaints that 0 for 8 a-la- Jay-Z back in the day. Get a ******* life!!!

Best part of all of this is that artists need to submit their music to be considered. You have to willingly ask the academy to consider your work because you WANT to be recognized. Don’t say you don’t care.

I really don’t think he’s throwing a tantrum. He’s been bombarded with questions asking him to comment about the Grammys. He’s merely addressing the issue and giving people answers about the whole situation. yall make it sound like he’s just a whiner.

Also, The Weeknd is more deserving than the entire sad list of Grammy nominees for this year. Prove me wrong.

I mean , maybe he’s good but he’s not great pop singer like others peers before him. I can’t recall a song of his that’s memorable. Heck, even Bruno Mars has more memorable songs than him. I never got his appeal. And for last, whining about a award or not caring about those he has is egocentrism and petty.

He could’ve just said, ‘I was a bit shocked and disappointed because I was expecting it since that’s what everyone told me. But it’s cool and we’ll see,’ or something vague like that. But instead he discredits the Grammy’s because they didn’t nominate his album? But when he did win, they were great, now that he didn’t, it’s like meh well who cares.
