  1. Ariana Grande hopped on a remix of The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears." It's officially #1! Thoughts, Exhale?!
  2. Despite having some of the best-charting music of all time, The Weeknd was iced out of the 2021 Grammys. That was, in part, because of the Recording Academy's secret committee. In an effort to become more transparent, the RA announced they're getting rid of them. The Weeknd is like “The trust has been broken for so long between the Grammy organization and artists that it would be unwise to raise a victory flag,” he tells Variety. He won't be submitting his music in the future for consideration. However, he does say that the move is “an important start.” “I think the industry and public alike need to see the transparent system truly at play for the win to be celebrated, but it’s an important start,” he continues. “I remain uninterested in being a part of the Grammys, especially with their own admission of corruption for all these decades. I will not be submitting in the future.” Tbh I see where he's coming from. The RA is hanging on by a thread Related:
  3. Ariana posted a tweet that she's going to be on a remix of "Save Your Tears" with The Weeknd. It will be released at 9PM PST tomorrow night.
  4. The point FOR that is that The Weeknd makes amazing videos
  5. The Weeknd has stated that he will be boycotting the Grammys going forward. This comes weeks after his 2020 album, After Hours was snubbed from all categories. He states he will not be putting his work forward for consideration due to the “secret committees” that decide who gets nominated. Related:
  6. The Weeknd put a lot of money, time and energy into making his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. Anyone else tuning in? It goes down around 5 pm PT Update: check it out!
  7. Rumor has it Rosalia will perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show with The Weeknd. The two collaborated together on a remix of "Blinding Lights." If true, this is obviously huge for her!
  8. The Weeknd's song "Blinding Lights" is on track to become the biggest song of all-time based off of chart play. It's based off a points system tallied by how long a song charts on Billboard. From what I gather, the song that's #1 is "The Twist." Abel did that Exhale, are you a fan of "Blinding Lights?" Related:
  9. The Weeknd says the Grammys he won previously mean nothing to him now. "'Look, I personally don't care anymore. I have three Grammys, which mean nothing to me now, obviously," he said in a new interview with Billboard. "It's not like, "Oh, I want the Grammy!"' he said. 'It's just that this happened, and I'm down to get in front of the fire, as long as it never happens again." "I suck at giving speeches anyways. Forget awards shows." "We did everything right, I think. I'm not a cocky person. I'm not arrogant. People told me I was going to get nominated. The world told me. Like, "This is it; this is your year." We were all very confused." Thoughts, Exhale? Related:
  10. The Weeknd is releasing a Greatest Hits titled The Highlights. It's available in his store. Fans are speculating it's the same as his Super Bowl halftime show setlist. It's 18 songs, which is huge for a halftime show, but his is going to be longer than the usual 12 minutes. Pepsi decided to cut some of their commercials and gave him the time to perform instead. It's going to be epic. You think Ariana will make an appearance? Thoughts on the setlist? 1. SAVE YOUR TEARS 2. BLINDING LIGHTS 3. IN YOUR EYES 4. CAN’T FEEL MY FACE 5. I FEEL IT COMING FT. DAFT PUNK 6. STARBOY FT. DAFT PUNK 7. PRAY FOR ME FT. KENDRICK LAMAR 8. HEARTLESS 9. OFTEN 10. THE HILLS 11. CALL OUT MY NAME 12. DIE FOR YOU 13. EARNED IT 14. LOVE ME HARDER, ARIANA GRANDE & THE WEEKND 15. ACQUAINTED 16. WICKED GAMES 17. THE MORNING 18. AFTER HOURS
  11. The singer’s latest visual, directed by Cliqua, continues the storyline from previous "After Hours" videos. In the “Heartless” video, the Weeknd trips and parties in Vegas. He then gets bloodied-up in the “Blinding Lights” visual. By “In Your Eyes”, he’s decapitated. But in “Too Late”, his head gets attached to another guy’s body, and he’s reanimated. And in recent public performances, the Weeknd’s face was covered in bandages. Now, the “Save Your Tears” video reveals the results of some reconstructive surgery. When Grammy nominations were announced in November, it was revealed that the Weeknd wasn’t nominated for any awards. The singer called the Grammys “corrupt” and claimed that he was offered the opportunity to perform at the show, so... this video could be making a reference to that.
  12. There's a rumor that Madonna and The Weeknd collaborated on a song together. And the buzz says they'll perform it together at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. That part sounds like fan-fiction to me, but IDK Madonna always keeps us on our toes so you never know. In November, Madonna was spotted in the recording studio with Amir “Cash” Esmailian, co-founder of XO and co-manager of The Weeknd (picture below). Exhale, you down for this?
  13. Rosalia jumped on a remix of The Weeknd's #1 song "Blinding Lights." It's, um, interesting. Rosalia's vocals sound amazing though. Thoughts, Exhale?
  14. Update: The Weeknd called the Grammys out. As he should. Update: And the Recording Academy responded with a cringe statement. Update: TMZ alleges The Weeknd was given an ultimatum: choose between the Super Bowl or the Grammys. Earlier: The 2021 Grammy nominations have been announced. The Weeknd received zero nods, though he was one of the most influential artists of 2020. The Recording Academy's president about The Weeknd's Grammy snub. IMO it's just a bunch of nonsense. But here's what they had to say. Below is a copy + paste snippet from Variety: Thoughts, Exhale? Related:
  15. The Weeknd wasn't the only Artist to get snubbed. Brandy's return to R&B With her critically acclaimed B7, Shut out. Monica fans are celebrating this. But as Brandy fans pointed out Monica fans have no room to talk especially since her only Grammy is the shared Grammy with Brandy for the boy is Mine. Brandy 12 Nods 1 Win Monica 4 Nods 1 Win. The Chicks was another surprise snub considering Gaslighter was universally praised and we needed them more than We knew Alanis morrisette outside her Grammy nod for best musical theater album where she's nominated as a Songwriter for Jagged little pill. Her Critically praised album Such pretty fork in the road was a breath of fresh air especially dealing with Post partum Depression and also questioning is life really worth getting through all this misery and pain for. Weeknd wasn't the only one to get snubbed at all.
  16. Omg. The Weeknd was announced as the performer at next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show! Thoughts?
  17. The Weeknd hopped on a remix of Maluma's song "Hawái." They also released a music video for it. I did NOT expect this collaboration, but WHEW. It goes off! Abel singing in Spanish Thoughts, Exhale?
  18. Ariana Grande and The Weeknd might have a new song together on Ari's forthcoming sixth studio album out later this month. Abel Re-Tweeted Ariana's announcement on Twitter, and liked her post on IG. We see you king. Smash incoming Related:
  19. Calvin Harris x The Weeknd dropped a new song titled "Over Now." Exhale, is this another hit for an already epic year for The Weeknd? Late Summer song potential? Listen below. Thoughts?! Related:
  20. The Weeknd is up for a total of six nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards, which is set to air live on August 30 at 8 p.m. ET. He is seen on his way to rehearse for the annual fan-voted awards show in a face full of bloody makeup and fake bruises. Related:
  21. The Weeknd says he wants to write an album for a female artist. “I’m a writer. Sometimes I write a song and it’s not in my head. I’m writing it for someone else, but then I end up singing it," he tells Esquire. "I want to write a whole album for a female artist. I have a whole vision of the Weeknd. But I guess it’s like . . . it’s the same reason why I want to write for someone else?” Of course my mind jumped to Britney. I think Abel co-writing an album with/for Britney would be absolutely incredible. He's a crazy talented songwriter. He can "go there." The Weeknd's music invokes emotion and often touches on really personal topics. That's exactly what B10 needs. It'll be a huge missed opportunity if her next record doesn't touch on themes of freedom, rebellion, liberation, control, censorship etc... you know, actual parts of her life. We don't know who Britney is anymore. Allow her the opportunity to explain what's been going on through the music. His production skills are also incredible. Not only can he produce incredible-sounding songs, but he also collaborates with other producers who get the vibe. Would you be down for a new Britney album overseen by The Weeknd?

  23. Doja Cat's got the Midas touch. But so does The Weeknd Doja just snatched her first-ever #1 with "Say So," featuring Nicki Minaj, and now she's got her sights set on a second mainstream edit. She hopped on a remix of "Close Your Eyes," one of my favorite songs off Weeknd's new album, After Hours. Get that second #1, Doja!! The original was perfect, but the remix is pretty awesome, too! Any Weeknd / Doja fans in Exhale? Thoughts?
  24. The Weeknd takes the number one spot on the Billboard 200 with his new record, After Hours. He beat 5SOS again tho their fans don't think so. Abel is opening up about his new record. In an interview with Variety, The Weeknd says he believes his music changed the landscape of pop. Does that make him a main pop boy? Only the MJ of the 2010s. “‘House of Balloons’ literally changed the sound of pop music before my eyes,” he says without exaggeration. “I heard ‘Climax,’ that [2012] Usher song, and was like, ‘Holy f—, that’s a Weeknd song.’ It was very flattering, and I knew I was doing something right, but I also got angry. But the older I got, I realized it’s a good thing.” (Usher declined to comment for this story.) Did he lie? I'm super interested to hear your thoughts. There's no denying Weeknd's massive impact... right?
  25. The Weeknd's new album After Hours enjoys the biggest first-week sales of anyone else in 2020. The world might be uncertain, but one thing's for sure... Abel knows how to make an immaculate album. Have you guys had a chance to listen? My favorite songs are "In Your Eyes" and "Save Your Tears" right now. Soo good. It appears people agree After Hours is it, because his first-week sales are stellar. According to Billboard, Abel's new record sold 444,000 equivalent album units in the U.S.
