Yeah but that doesn't mean it's literally overplayed (not possible unless you're talking about 2004 and you were listening to a Top 40 radio station where Toxic went to #1 and is Britney's home turf - that case it is overplayed), but more a testament to the song being a timeless bop that teens of Gen Z can get into. Which is probably the reason why DJs are playing it years after it's release. As previously discussed by puppy, it is problematic, yes, because she has so many other timeless bops. But the tea is, Toxic is the only "cool" Britney song that the gp accepts today. Hehe.

I think fans say that because they are tired of "Toxic" being almost a synonym for Britney, when in fact we all know very well that her whole discography is huge and quite impeccable, so it's frustrating and they start talking **** about it just so they can raise some eyebrows and caught people's attention so they can at least mention that she has a ton of other cool music.

But saying that "Toxic" is a bad or even an OK song is just delusional. Do not paying attention to those.

Also, I don't want to say the song is overplayed, because there's no such thing as overplaying a b-record but they do still play it everywhere so that is a factor.

idk about that. fans/stans tend to acknowledge their fave's signature material when something is actually good except amongst the britney stans who want to be edgy and claim toxic isn't all that when it's literally a 3:19 masterpiece, start to end, that anyone would kill to have. fortunately, all of britney's signature songs are actually masterpieces (maybe with the exception of 'work *****'.) bey can't relate.

i've been a hardcore britney stan since 2008 and toxic is literally in my top 3...has nothing to do with being 'lazy' when it's become a universally-acclaimed masterpiece and pop anthem that appeals to so many demographics and has aged gracefully overtime  the general public is aware of her other music (after all, she is a pop music legend with 9 studio albums under her belt) that isn't toxic but leave it to britney stans to think that people acknowledging one of her greatest works is a slap in the face...
