Oh, it's just a positive one to show how much of a pop icon she became, since during the 1998 pictures Ricky Martin was arguably a much bigger name, and yet now he's the one presenting her with a prestigious award. (No shade to Ricky though, I totally had that “Livin Da Vida Loca” CD back in the day, and he’s aged like a fine wine)! 

Also, Britney actually looks way better in the 2018 pictures than the 1998 ones, which is also never the “expectation” when 20 years have passed by!
