It's a different market out there now, incomparison to back in the 90's when internet is something exclusive to non existence. However, one of the artist that still managed to slay with physical album sales, even with vinyl alone and without any reliance on streaming when it first release...
 

Britney however IS still very fortunate and somehow surviving nearly 20 years into the industry, despite decreasing in sales, the constant backslash and not to mention a few marketing mishaps...

its real easy for people to be negative when they compare britneys current sales with the past, but with all things in perspective and the current music landscape understood, shes still doing really well. its crazy to me how far album sales across the industry have dropped over the years.
