  1. I find the videos to be very reminiscent of these old MAD TV sketches, and I thought we were past that.
  2. I put a link to just the edited NPR clip at the top as well.
  3. Clip: click to watch clip Credit (11:30): Original credit: The Economics of Britney Spears WWW.NPR.ORG Britney Spears isn't just a pop icon and tabloid regular. According to Portfolio magazine, she may also be a major economic engine...
  4. I don’t know why performers go with solo dance breaks. It never goes over that great.
  5. No shade to Tate, who is a total talent. But I’ve been thinking this same thing! I’m so glad there are Britney peeps who understand me.
  6. "Measuring music’s popularity has always been contained to a certain period of time: peak chart ranking, awards, opening-week sales—a song’s performance at its prime... But for me, it’s equally important to quantify how music is passed down from generation to generation, parent to teen. The answer will indicate how future generations will characterize the decade. Every parent makes a mental note of music they’ll pass down to their children—records that they hope will shape their children’s taste and barometer for quality. That process is a marvelous filtering mechanism, a value judgement of what should be cherished versus what just happened to be popular. Billboard #1 hits mean nothing if future parents don’t tell their children, “This is good music.” When records are not replayed, they become fleeting fads in the eyes of history. In the case of “Wild Wild West,” the only people who understood its importance were those who were there in 1999, at peak Will Smith. But, some songs will survive—the ones most recognized by Gen Z." ...Baby One More Time is the most recognized song of the '90s by Millennials (99%) and Gen Z (96% - tied with My Heart Will Go On) Other Examples: Believe, 98-90 I Will Always Love You, 91-85 Genie In A Bottle, 92-69 Waterfalls, 85-50 https://pudding.cool/2020/07/song-decay/
  7. I know it’s supposed to be cheeky, but this is actually pretty demeaning and disrespectful.
  8. Colbert has higher ratings than Fallon and is also based in NYC.
  9. I thought so too but is she a very very rare guest? I feel like she does interviews. But you might be right.
  10. Colbert posts on TikTok that he is flying to LA to interview a “very very rare” guest on Monday. Many people are speculating Beyonce or Britney. I’m highly highly doubtful, but if she did do an interview, it would make sense for the host to come visit her https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8SYmktF/ edit: being on the 13th, it makes a lot of sense that it’s Taylor. But I dunno if I’d call it a rare interview then. edit: it’s probably Barbara Streisand.
  11. That’s awesome. I could be totally wrong. It’ll be interesting to see if/how they’d count such streams.
  12. Spotify premium free audiobooks seem to be only in the UK and Australia. They never even informed publishers about it, so I don’t think anyone knows how to handle those listens. That said, I don’t believe new releases are usually included. Are you sure your friend just didn’t want to admit to buying it ;)
  13. I get the feeling vol 2 will be about music/tours and creative processes.
  14. Ya it’s been around a surprisingly long time. Bill Maher had a show called “politically incorrect” starting in 1993.
  15. I think it was temporary in the US and then restocked. Hopefully it means Amazon’s initial order based on sales predictions was too low. That means it’s exceeding expectations.
  16. On the Juicy Scoop podcast, the host Heather McDonald says Cade told her Woman in Me has sold (or predicted to be) 9 million… although her memory is fuzzy. Lol.
