Taylor Swift is the current biggest name in pop BUT does she actually have anything iconic?

There is no question that Taylor Swift has become the biggest name in pop…

However, aside from “infamous” moments such as her many famous boyfriends and the Kanye interruption, does she actually have any iconic performances or videos?

I genuinely cannot think of one…

 

Britney: 2000’s VMAS performances stripping off outfit, 2001 with the snake, her matching denim with Justin, the Madonna kiss performance, Baby One More Time song and video, Oops! song and video with red latex bodysuit, Toxic song and video, Slave video - the list just goes on and on.
 

I will NEVER understand the Taylor hype!!!

Nothing at all. Also, her success isn't as impressive as people make it out to be. Britney had a peak in an extremely misogynistic time, and Taylor has a peak during cancel and stan culture, which gives her praise from every side. Streaming made it possible for non-singles songs to chart on the Hot 100, and fans can easily cheat the system. Touring nowadays is huge, especially after COVID. Tay herself uses a billion tactics to sell as many copies as possible, like releasing multiple versions and having months-long pre-orders, among other strategies. She's the biggest nowadays, but let's think about it. There's literally no competition from other pop girls at all, everyone retired except her. She's truly not that special

…and as pointed out before… shock value or stripping are not the only iconic things… which is what many users in this forum tend to deem only as such… as well as a LACK of understanding… and an itchy a.zz when it comes to Taylor’s massive success.

I dont think she has really "iconic" video or performance for general public, outside of her fan base or people interested in pop music of certain age category.

I think "shake it off" might be her most well known song amongst the general public, however most of them know the song, and her name but cannot connect them together.

She’s really good in marketing her eras. All of her albuns have a differente aesthetic. And a lot of her videos are iconic and well produced: Blank Space, Shake It Off, Look What You Make Me Do, You Need To Calm Down, Anti-Hero, Karma, that one with 10 minutes. It’s all celebrated for her fans. It’s not because you’re not a fan  and don’t know her work that her work is not “iconic”. And I’m saying that not being a fan, but having a lot of friends that are her fans.
