I actually did this when they filmed the Glee 3D concert (my ex was a fan.) and let me tell you that **** was tedious. I had to listen to Lea Michele sing don’t stop believing like 8 times. (I stopped believing.) And the director kept telling us to “keep up the energy” It’s less fun after so many takes. We weren’t paid at all (we did get free tickets to the “real” show that night  but we left early because we were exhausted after being there at the filming all day.) we were there to fill the seats on the sides of the stage for them to film close ups. Then they spliced that with wide shots of the real crowd at the evening shows. It was an interesting experience to be sure. The cast looked exhausted. Lea was a diva who refused to hang with the rest of the cast. Darren Chris was the nicest and the only one who came and talked to us.   
 

so honestly I’m glad Katy is paying people  for their time. It’s honestly more work then you’d think.

Not sure if there was compensation, but they did brought a fake audience for Britney during the NYE taping performances, that's why the audience looked waay over excited on both performances. Both tapings got mixed with the actual footage from that same day's show.

Britney's Vegas show was never filmed for release, they did however plant audience members for her tapings for NYE, BBMA's, and The Today Show. Like I said, this ISN'T one of Katy's regular shows at her residency, so those other artists aren't comparable. When Vegas or Broadway shows are filmed for release, this is the standard and not specific to Katy at all. They don't film the normal show that ordinary fans and ticket buyers are attending.

But sure, don't let facts and logic stop you from getting your kii's laughing at a pop star's "dead career" while she makes more money in her sleep than you ever will in your life. I'm not even a Katy fan, but come on, I'm sure you are better than this. You thought you ate.

I’d kinda love to do something like that. It’s cool that the audience is even being compensated at all.
Speaking of, Isn’t this how Britney filmed her Femme Fatale tour, I think that was in Toronto? Like a production, not really a concert. Very cool.
