'Criminal' was a horrible choice for single. Why did we vote for this? Let's discuss. We know Drop Dead Beautiful should have been the single instead....

We all love the song and video but it shouldn't have been an official album single 

Yes I recognize it's a Gen Z approved successful anthem, but still we had an epic dance track like DDB that would have slayed charts and radio.

I think we went wrong choosing Criminal..this was back when Britney let fans choose album singles!

The only bad choice was Hold It Against Me as the lead instead of Inside Out. Criminal is successful.

I really dislike Hold It Against Me, but its obviously a good first single choice. Inside Out should have been the 3rd or 4th single.

No, I absolutely wanted Criminal. The only thing I have mixed feelings about on that album's single choices is HIAM, however, that song's grown on me over time.

For the rest i don't know, imo the album didn't have any more hits, i can't picture any of the other songs becoming hits

I liked DDB from the very beginning and still to this day, but Criminal was the best choice as a single and it was extremely radio friendly compared to HIAM or TTWE. Here in Europe you need a melody that people will remember for a song to be played on radio more often and the unique sound that Criminal has was definitely a factor why it was chosen by fans. People liked Britney in ballads from her early days and Criminal reminded GP why we like her voice. It was such a breath of fresh air after three dance songs that were not using real instruments in them. Not being commercially successful was a different thing but as we all know, that does not mean a siht! There are thousand of songs that are hit in people ears but not by sales and reverse. For example HIAM that I mentioned, one of her no. 1s and no one really remember the song! Especially GP. Criminal on the other hand......  A lot of my friends, that were not fans of a ''new Britney on a mission ''found their love for Britney again thanks to Criminal... And that is the point, you need to have a balance and ''please'' all groups of people that like different sound.... And for IO it is a very cool song with experimental sound for that time alongside with HIR and both of them are single worthy (almost all song from the album tbf) but again I think the success would only meet in America. Here in Europe we need from artist to give us emotions!

Any up tempo song would've done better. 

The GP loves up tempo Britney. With the exception of Everytime, all her midtempo songs and ballads have performed worse than her up-tempo songs. 

So yes, DDB would have performed better. Same for Up & Down and even Big Fat Bass (which I don't like at all)

Inside Out could've gone either way. The lyrics and throwbacks to BOMT & Crazy could've made it a hit. But it could also have been too midtempo for it to become a hit.

I love DDB but I’m so happy that we have Criminal! She sounds amazing and it’s an awesome song

I wanted inside out. It kept up with the sound of the overall album and it would’ve been a bigger hit than criminal. HIAM was a solid lead single given the wave of dubstep influenced music that followed. The video for Criminal was cute, and we all know, it could’ve been better. It could’ve been a sixth single let’s be honest. Would’ve been a cute segway to Pretty Girls.

Drop Dead Pitiful is one of Britney’s worst songs. They should have saved it for Broccoli Jetlag so that we could have kept all of her worst songs on one album

To be honest I'd be surprised if the label didn't push for Criminal and the votes were actually all legit lol, but overall tea!!
