Why the hell is "My Prerogative" so underrated?

Bloodshy & Avant are freaking geniuses. Insane producers... 

In my opinion, this is one of the lushest and smoothest productions she has ever sang on; everything from the vocals to the beat is extremely lush, progressive, distinctive, and unlike anything else in the mainstream music landscape at the time it was released, in my opinion. Go find a 2004 song that sounds as fututistic as this, it's very hard. 

 

I also really like the vocal editing on this, Bloodshy & Avant always know how to make processed vocals without sounding corny or cheap like the will.i.am songs. Their productions have always treaded the line between progressive and tasteful.

This was released in 2004 but really kinda sounds like it inspired those Timbaland production for Justin Timberlake in 2006-2007

The music video intro with that car falling into the pool is one of her best video moments too. 

it's a shame we never got a televised performance of this song

i truly agree with your statement. this song is so underrated!!! and i love the car scene haha it was bad ***!!! i think i heard she was never able to perform it because of bobby brown though. this song could have and should have been huge!

I actually adore her version, however when I talked to people about it, they always say they prefer the original version of the song...

Agreed. She did this song justice and made it her own. The video radiates such boss ***** energy too. Wish we had more songs and videos from her like this before she lost her passion and almost everything became a hot mess.

Yeah...she was constantly doubling down on making Kfed part of her legacy and it turned people off. I still supported her, though.

Yes, but he's the one who looks like a jerk now and Britney is living her best life! People still support her while Kfed is a flop who never had a career except being a professional leech.

Better than some artists’ entire videographies.

this is among my favorite songs of her, the cover was exceptional, the video is among the best of her career (totally underrated by everyone), the DVD intro, the case, omg - everything!!!

low key wish break the ice would've had this same treatment - its a really powerful song she has not exploited to it’s full potential and still sounds fresh. just the intro... so fitting.
