Well I worked with SM entertainment (Boa's label) some time ago and I became friends with some people who were also in Jive records at the time and they were the connection between Jive and SM and I got some information about Britney anecdotally,

SM bought this song in 2005/2006 after Britney decided to start recording totally different and fresh material for her next album (BLACKOUT) Post-Greatest Hits: "my prerogative" Jive planned to release a "comeback album" as it was part of Britney's contract, but she leaked a demo of "Monalisa" without consent from Jive and also mentioned the name of the album "Original doll" they think that Britney did this to ruin Jive's planes and be able to get married and later become a mother. After this Britney was pregnant for two years and this material was rejected because she wanted a new sound.

One of these songs was "Eat You Up" produced by Henrik Jonback feat Boodshy & Avant, Jive hoped to repeat Toxic's success with this song as the lead single. SM entertainment bought 5 songs originally made for Britney, "Eat you up","Obsessed","Touched" and "Look Who's Talking Now" the demo of this song performed by Britney was leaked online in 2012.

They also told me that working with Bloodshy & Avant was always difficult because if they felt that a song was a potential hit they would only sell you the song on the condition that it has to be a single and this is probably the reason why "Radar" was released as a single on Circus, since they had signed a contract for it to be a single on BLACKOUT but due to circumstances in Britney's life it could not be released.

"Eat you up" was released on October 16, 2008 in Japan as the lead single from the twelfth studio album and also was her debut album.  “Eat You Up” was the first song to enter on Billboard's charts.

 

Now BoA is one of the most the most successful soloists in KPop industry and is also the creative director of SM entertainmnet.

So this means that Britney didn't like Original Doll :enigma_alien_blue:

 

I think she loved original doll but this album was produced during 2004/2005 And in 2006 after the divorce with Kevin Britney began to reveal herself through music and experiment with new sounds and probably thought that the "original doll" material was outdated and that she could create something new and fresh and clearly she was right

Yes, but it is something that many producers do, there's many songs that are made for singers like Britney but the producers prefer to give them to singers that maybe are not than big but they will invest money and effort in promoting it as a single and they will probably be a hit and at the same time the producers earn much more with it

I can actually picture Britney slaying that song hard. It fits the same vibe. Also the song title itself (Eat You Up) is hot too.

That whole era was so mysterious and edgy, and it's upsetting we're unable to hear most of the masterpieces that were created :crying1_britney_sobbing_tears_2006_sad:.
